Yeah, and he's the backup. First string kicker hasn't played since an injury in the William & Mary game.

Spent some time visiting Ratkesroommate this morning and got to talk to Ethan. All I will say is Ethan had a "Hangover" (the movie) kind of night with his roomies. All are healthy and safe. They're all hysterical. Bounce back food being administered now.

Just wanted to add one of Ratke's best kicks was the KO into the endzone that was NOT returned after we tied it 28-28. Previous to that, his KO's were good but our coverage sucked ace. I feared they were going to get another return out to near midfield and have only another 30 yards or so to get into FG range. Instead, he nailed one into the endzone, they had to start their drive back at the 20-25 (can't remember which one as NFL and CFB seem to have different rules on that and I always get 'em corn fused).

Of course, after a long pass that went incomplete on 1st down that also stopped the clock, 2 more stops by the Dukes helped us get decent field position to start the ending drive. Don't underestimate Ratke's KO. Helped us keep some momentum off the tying TD. If they return it like others, our momentum drops as they are out near midfield and at best we likely start a final drive down inside our own 20.

If his Freshman year is any indication, he could be in contention with Norwood as best kicker in JMU history.
