RE: UCA preview
I was at the game with my daughter that goes to UCA. the trojans are garage league team with a bush league coach. The whole game we had no plan...no method to the madness. Wes should be ashamed for putting a product like that on the court. If Chase tolerates this type of deal then maybe he is part of the problem.

I haven't seen a game yet, but that is what the stats make it sound like. Playgroundball.

Going into the season I figured our best perimeter players would be DeAndre Burns (top returning scorer) and Camron Reedus (Juco All-American). Burns hasn't played a second and Reedus was hurt, then played some limited minutes, and now is out after getting hurt again. Ben Marcus has been by far our most consistent shooter, percentage-wise, and he was out tonight. When I saw those 3 were out, i didn't give us much of shot at tip-off, and it got worse as the night continued. Take 3 key players, from a team that was likely mediocre, at best, this is what you get. Still, UCA has a nice team. If they aren't a contender in the Southland, that conference is a lot better than I ever gave them credit for.

RE: UCA preview
Honestly after the first 10 minutes after each team was feeling the other team out the Trojans looked completely lost and so did Wes. If it had not been for being with my daughter who got in free to the game the $15 I spent was a total waste....if we win 10 games this year i will be surprised.

I would love to think that getting full strength would make a difference, and I am sure it will make some. However, the thing that bothers me is not the fact that we are losing, but the way we are losing. If Wes cannot get the subs to play right, then I doubt he will get the starters to do so.

Not long ago someone posted that we will be "lucky" to win 16 games. Now it's down to "surprised" if we win 10. Obviously, I'd take 16 wins in a heartbeat. Still not sure about 10. Luckily, the league looks fairly weak so far, other than UTA and GaSou. I think double-figures, in wins, is quite possible but we need to get better and healthier rather quickly.

Does ten wins get Wes into next season?

RE: UCA preview
The good news? Our perimeter defense is actually starting to come around, and that is huge.

The bad news is that we cannot hit the broad side of a barn. Getting the injured players back ought to help that, but will it fix it? I don't know.

Well, Wes has four games to get things figured out before the critical season begins. Here is hoping he does.

Our record during the preseason is pretty meaningless, other than it gives us an idea how we might fare in the conference. Based on the evidence so far, not well. We will be better when healthy. How much better, I don't really don't know. Good enough to be a middle of the road Sun Belt team? i'm still hopeful, but if we don't get a split during our first home stand, it will likely signal that it will be a long season.

I always figured you have to give a coach 4 years. That seems to have changed in today's immediate gratification society. But, if it is true that he has a 3 year contract, he will be back next season regardless. A new contract, after that, seems quite unlikely unless he starts turning things around.

RE: UCA preview
Right now Andre Jones is last year's Marcus Johnson. Gunning away from the 3-point line at a low percentage. Shooting us out of games. Wes won't hit the brake pedal.

Andre is our most talented player and he knows it. He is trying to do too much. We need to get a shooter back- Certainly DeAndre and possibly Reedus. I think he will defer, he if have someone better from the outside.

Wes is not near the coach that Shields was, and Steve couldn't do it in twelve years. I haven't seen them this year, but from what I'm reading here from the few fans who have, they seem to be worse than last year. You should be seeing some improvement in his second year.

This team was clueless in Conway and so was their coach. It is going to a long season.

Didn’t Wes get a raise after last year?

Very possibly there was a raise built into his contract. I honestly don't know for sure.
