Football Coaching Vacancy
There was a job opening for WR coach at ODU. Does anyone know what happened to coach Forrest?

Maybe he was let go? He was out on recruiting visits as recently as a week ago.

I would be really surprised if this was the only departure. This is the classic BW post-season deflection. Also, I fully anticipate an article/presser/tweet/etc. coming soon that will serve as a platform for BW to bubblegum it up stating how this past year was full of adversity.

Except that it's not bubble-gummed up. You're aware of all the players we lost to injury, and you're aware that some of our QB recruits didn't pan out. I assume you're also aware that no school has ever had perfect recruiting; kids bomb all the time. There are excuses and there are reasons. There are reasons we did what we did. Why is Wilder telling the truth so offensive to you?

I don’t think the WR coach is the problem, but hey

People will complain if coaches were never let go (we need changes!) and people will complain if coaches are let go (lol, scapegoat).

I think the WR coach was a problem. Glad to see Bobby, as he usually has, make the moves that are necessary in the off-season.

FWIW, we have to figure out a way to pay more than 55k for a WR if we want anyone with a resume.

Also, none of us can really judge how well the position coach does or does not do. Can only judge based on results.

$55k for a WR? What are we, Alabama?!?

Just kidding. I know you meant WR Coach. 04-cheers

True and true.

On your second point, I will say this. A lot of fans suspected there was a problem there, and apparently BW did as well. So it is a reasonable assumption that there was an issue.

That gets you a 3rd stringer at Alabama. Well who are we kidding, they don't pay WRs, they only throw the ball 6 times a game.

Interesting. Wonder if anyone else goes? Many will say scapegoat, but do you really think BW would let someone go as a “scapegoat” if they weren’t really a problem? Absolutely not. No football coach would let someone go to appease the fans.

A job listing posted Tuesday by ODU seeks an “assistant football coach – wide receivers,” preferably with experience “coaching at (the) FBS level” and “college coaching experience in bowl games.” It lists the salary range as $55,000 to $58,000.

Like you guys say. what kind of coach are we really going to get for that type of money?

Dont know much about college football and if this is on par with peer schools salaries for similar positions

Not necessarily to the level of "scapegoat" but the changes needed are those he fought for the 2 year contracts. If real change is to be made, a change up in the coordinators need to be made.

Definitely not offensive to me, but even during the season BW leans much more towards optimism vs. realism. Also, there does need to be a distinction between complete "telling the truth" and smoke and mirrors. Did injuries affect the year-to-year stagnant play calling? I completely agree that there are countless accounts of recruits not panning out.
