PLEASE! If there is a football God and I have one wish, please make this wish come true.

Where do we sign? Let’s make it happen

You just have to email your school president a link to this thread, and he’ll make it happen. But do it quickly! You have to pull the trigger before someone else posts their dream lineup.

lol yaaaas do it. GS can go over to CUSA if they want.

for the Marshall fan, I don't understand the reasoning for taking FAU over Coastal Carolina? close proximity, like-minded, similar size, and synergy with others schools in the list.....maybe it is not suppose to be logical but rather a "I want what I want" list

1. Florida is considered one of the best recruiting states. Historical 30-40% of Marshall’s players come from Florida. Marshall lobbied the hardest to get FAU/FIU to join, so they would have yearly trips to Florida.

2. Coastal Carolina has 10,000 students, FAU has 31,000 students.

3. Myrtle Beach Metro has a population of 270,000, South Florida Metro has a population of 7,000,000.

4. Games played between Coastal Carolina and Marshall = 0.

5. If you’re dead set on the bus league model, yes Coastal is closer.

1. sure, then why leave out FIU
2. You are supporting my point? Both Marshall and CCU are small regional schools
3. again, you're supporting my point. Both Marshall and CCU are located in small towns where locals corral around the only football team around.
4. true
5. I thought the whole point of this discussion is to SAVE MONEY because CUSA is struggling financially

Honestly, SBC is doing fine as is. I only entertained the thought of regional realignment (East teams from SBC&CUSA and West teams in SBC&CUSA) because a tighter geographical footprint will save senseless travel cost for all sports. Otherwise, what is the point of switching teams around?

Enrollment and population have very little to do with athletic success.

Recruiting argument is the strongest.
Student population = irrelevant.
The market model is dead and buried. Engaged fans is the future. Either ya got 'em or you don't. Coastal vs either Florida looks like a push to me.
Branding matters and brand familiarity gives the edge to the Florida schools.
The fascination with the cleanest possible map ignores what matters to the decision makers.

FAU is more established at the FBS level than Coastal. I like Coastal and have been to games their but they aren't ready for big boy football and won't be for a while.

FAU has a nice stadium, great trip, great recruiting, and have shown they are finally taking football serious by going out and hiring Lane Kiffin.

1. sure, then why leave out FIU
We don't need both and FAU is a much better program.

2. You are supporting my point? Both Marshall and CCU are small regional schools
True, but you can't even begin to compare us in terms of sports, which is what this is all about.

3. again, you're supporting my point. Both Marshall and CCU are located in small towns where locals corral around the only football team around.
Once again, no comparison between the 2 programs in terms of support, facilities, fan base, brand, etc.

4. true

5. I thought the whole point of this discussion is to SAVE MONEY because CUSA is struggling financially
The whole point for me is to form the best G5 football conference possible while staying out of the state of Texas.

Honestly, SBC is doing fine as is. I only entertained the thought of regional realignment (East teams from SBC&CUSA and West teams in SBC&CUSA) because a tighter geographical footprint will save senseless travel cost for all sports. Otherwise, what is the point of switching teams around?

I think he meant FBS level football. The F_U's were a joke of a program (FIU still is), but FAU has shown a willingness to improve and is doing so. I've said before that I'm not a fan of the Florida schools, but I do like FAU and would be happy if GS was in a conference with them. FIU, sorry but not interested at all.

This lineup of schools is about as good as you can get if you were to cherry pick from the CUSA and SBC. These are schools that have shown a commitment to football (and athletics in general) and have solid support from fans and students. While this isn't the most compact it off sets travel costs with teams that will interest home fans more often than not and lead to higher ticket sales and booster donations.

I'd be good with the status quo, I'd be good with a re-org featuring both east division in one conference and west division in another , and I'd be good with the above re-org expanded to 14 teams conferences adding NMSU, JMU, and two of UMass, Delaware, Mo State, or even the VA school that shall not be named.

We are on the same page. I chose what I thought were schools with the best football history, fan base, or proving they are willing to invest.

We are a hell of a lot more ready than charlotte was / is, who joined your illustrious conference.

Go google the score from last time we played them. We spanked them on their field by 25 points when they were transitioning to FBS.

The current capacity of their stadium is 15k, which is the same as Coastal. And next year our stadium will be expanded to over 20k. That's over 30% bigger than their stadium.

for the Marshall fan, I don't understand the reasoning for taking FAU over Coastal Carolina? close proximity, like-minded, similar size, and synergy with others schools in the list.....maybe it is not suppose to be logical but rather a "I want what I want" list

CUSA is a big boy conference?

Not at all, but Coastal isnt ready for FBS football YET.

I agree with you. I would have chose Coastal over Charlotte as well. Then again I didn't want either of you, I wanted App St and Ga Southern. In the conference I said I hoped for, there is no Charlotte.

I agree with this. I think in the long run they are going to do just fine.

PLEASE! If there is a football God and I have one wish, please make this wish come true.

Might would trade ULL for FAU. Better facilities, more fan support, and solid in all 3 major sports.

East: Marshall, ODU, App, WKU, MTSU, GS
West: Troy, UAB, USM, La Tech, StAte, ULL

Having said that though, I'm pretty happy with our current conference these days minus one or two schools.

Oh GSUALUM17, I think you know that we’re probably on the short list...
