More reasons to promote Penny
The Lorensen Wright deal shows just how lucky we are to have a former player like Penny.

He and Wright had similar backgrounds in the inner city and both used their God given skills to go to college and then to the NBA.

Yet some how Penny over came all the "barriers" that so many claim is the reason for their short comings. He used basketball to get and education and when his NBA career ended prematurely he was set to move on and make something of himself.

He didn't blow through his money while playing ball and had something to fall back on after his playing career ended. He had money enough to do for his community and make a donation back to the U of M and was in a position to help lead other at risk kids in the community as their coach.

We really need to spend more time promoting the success stories to the kids of the area and show them what can happen to you when you have your head on straight and make the right decisions.

Show them there is nothing wrong with doing things the right way and keeping your nose clean.
