Was hoping that would happen in this phase, but if not, certainly within 5 years. I don't think ODU will tear down the end zone and leave it empty for party space. Our capacity would drop to around 18,000.
They could turn it into a tiered decked space (or something like it), where the students have more freedom to move around and gives the section different uses.
Im all for getting something creative for the studens, but I never liked the look of people at ground level right behind the endzone (like WKU) with no stands or hill behind them. On TV it really looks JV.
Tiered decking ≠ ground level. The operative word is tiered.
I agree, a structure is needed. Cant just have nothing behind the endzone.
Nobody said there would not be anything in the north end zone. The plan is to build a tier deck space with covered structures and open spaces. My only hope is they also include deck space that is sloped for students to sit and watch the game sort of like the lawn at UVA.

Clearly you cannot fathom a joke of any level on the internet. Goodness.

I think you are thinking of this. Which was part of the original populous plan. They have not come out with anything for the new plan for the north endzone yet.

I'm glad you saved me the time to find this screenshot, because I was wondering last night what will happen with the locker rooms when the clams come down. Will the visitor's locker room they built a few years back be incorporated into the rebuild? If the north endzone gets torn down/reconstructed in Phase I, will they work in the new home locker room at the north end?

I think a big component of that is the home locker room. Ours is lacking in the gameday building and we need an upgrade. All the more reason to push to get the north endzone done.

If a new home locker room was built underneath the north endzone and the visitors locker room was kept under the northwest stands, would the home team switch sidelines? There would be a mash up at halftime when the teams head in for the break if the Monarchs stayed on the west side. Would that be better for tv with the home team on the east side? Or would our current locker room become the visitors and we keep the sidelines the same? Personally I wouldn't like the enemy coming out of the tunnel... give them a small tucked away entrance/exit on the side of the stadium

In the ever shifting sands of out stadium design it is hard to know what is really happening. That said, the plan was to build the new, enlarged HOME TEAM locker room under the NEW North Stands and give the visitors our former locker room at the South Endzone. Things keep changing (almost daily as I understand it) but I believe that is still the grand plan. I was told at one point the biggest wish for Coach Wilder was a new locker room at the stadium where he could have the entire team together instead of in two rooms as it is now.
I love what the Packers do at Lambeau. They have a very nice big entrance ramp for themselves. The visiting team enters under the south endzone in a lane only wide enough for one player at a time. Visiting teams cannot enter side by side or in a group. One player at a time. I love it. Stack 'em up.
So if we do switch ends then modify it the lane to narrow it down!!

Doesn't sound like that would be up to the fire code.

If there are other exits (not towards the stadium) that should not be a concern.

Notre Dame did the same thing when they added a Visitors team tunnel during their recent stadium renovation

This setup is quite prevalent actually. Generally, the home team waits on the sideline while the visiting team heads towards their tunnel. Once the coast is clear, the home team proceeds to their locker room. Once you think about it it's proper etiquette...the men always go last

Especially if you're VT, they bolted quickly for the locker room the moment the clock hit 0:00 lol

There is a stand up ad for it in the bookstore to the left of the door.
Serious question....
Could I buy a brick that says:
VCU
SUCKS
PLEASE WIPE FEET
I guess I could try and see what happens, but I'm lazy, so I thought I'd ask first. Maybe we could get a bunch of fans to do something similar with all of our rivals and call it the "***** Walk." (I'm being sarcastic. Or am I?)
So the premium granite bricks are very limited because they are going to spell out "ODU" in front of the west grandstand. Only need so many bricks to spell that out.
