Shades of Vince Lombardi as Norvell stays even though Arkansas
Mike Norvell has wanted to be the head coach at Arkansas all his life. Just like Lombardi, he has stayed to lead us to greatness. Think about it.

Sticky this post. As much as I despise Lou the Lisp Holtz, he said something extremely true:

'Always leave after 7 years, because in the first 3-4 the institution is in love with you and you are not necessarily in love with the institution, then in years 6-7 you are in love with the institution and not the other way around.'

If Norvell stays here 5 more years AND is not asked to leave or has left in 5 more years, we should revisit this issue. Interesting in that a 5-year deal takes Norvell to exactly 7 years.

I'll say this: I am VERY excited for next year!

So you're saying Lombardi always wanted to coach at Arkansas, but stayed with the packers to lead them to greatness? I don't understand.

He will most likely be our coach next season. (coaches have signed extensions and still taken another job)
We will revisit this after next year.

Lombardi was born in Brooklyn, and dream job was to be the head coach of the New York Giants. He was the offensive coordinator for the Giants under head coach Jim Lee Howell, and Tom Landry was the DC. He left for Green Bay, had the opportunity to come back to the Giants, but stayed at Green Bay.

Thank you. I was sure there was a cognitive point being made, and I was too uninformed to understand it. Now I do.

In your defense, the OP was a bit of a reach. Got the book "When Pride Still Mattered" a few years ago at Christmas, so was familiar with the story.

My brother in law, Ed Hulton (deceased) played basketball for Lombardi at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood, NJ. I guess Lombardi coached multiple sports there.

Vince left Green Bay to coach the Redskins.
