Great news for Memphis for another year of 2 depending on the buyout and which P5 teams start looking next year and the year after. Would think there might not be much out there next year with the turnover the last two years. Wasn't he interested in the Tennessee job or didn't Tennessee show any interest in him with Fulmer as the AD now. That P5 job is still open yet and so is Oregon. No bites there either. 07-coffee3

Want to keep your coach? Pay him 6 million a year. It takes P5 money to do it.

Who was playing mostly freshman and sophomores.

Probably has already been stated, but Mike was the coach that landed Riley Ferguson and both of our stud running backs, etc, etc.

He's at Memphis long term...until he isn't. lol

If you underachieve and fire your coach first, then you never have to worry about him leaving. Seems like a solid approach.

UTk inquired about Norvell. He wasn't interested. Would you blame him? And he signed the extension after Oregon came open.

A Memphis reporter said on Twitter that he was offered the extension back in September and just now signed it. Guess he was looking to assess P5 offers first. He was able to use that as leverage and got a MUCH bigger contract out of it. He came out a major winner here. Well deserved.

Memphis will continue to be a force in the West, plus Norvell is winless against UCF and that was with the strongest team in the history of the Memphis program.

It's a win-win-win!

It was definitely the strongest team in Memphis history. It was also the best team in UCF history and it took you 2 OT's to get the win on your home field. You make it sound like you rolled a crap team out there and won.

lol

I guess you're conveniently forgetting that in 2013 we had a team that went 12-1, beat two Top 10 teams, and narrowly lost by 3 to another Top 10 team.

We beat you twice, once in blowout fashion.

But whatever makes you feel better. 07-coffee3

hey UCF is really really good and was better than Memphis this year...feel like you need to hear that a bunch...a guy starts a post on how we kept our coach when it looked like we were losing him and it turns into but but but we are better than you.....congrats, I guess every fan base has them

That remains to be seen. We’ll know after the Peach Bowl.

Don't blame him for shying away from Tennessee the way things were going under the now fired AD. He seemed to be spinning like a ball in a pin ball machine. Fulmer should add some stability there now and get that school back on track. Didn't know he signed the extension before the Oregon job came open - thanks for the info. 04-cheers
