UT Alumni Association Dollar General Bowl Charter Flight Package & Pregame Party
Your University of Toledo Alumni Association has organized a charter plane trip to watch our Rockets and enjoy the festivities associated with the Dollar General Bowl in Mobile, Ala. Our charter will depart Toledo Express Airport at approximately 7:30 a.m. EST on Friday, Dec. 22 and return to Toledo immediately following the game at approximately 4 a.m. EST on Sunday, Dec. 24.

Your package will include:
•Round-trip charter air travel
•A ticket to the mayor’s luncheon featuring Bob Stoops, college football coaching legend
•The world-famous Mardi Gras parade and pep rally
•A meal and tour of GulfQuest National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico
•Alumni Association Pregame Party, with a menu that includes fried shrimp, catfish and chicken tenders, hush puppies, fried green tomatoes, Cajun seafood gumbo, peeled shrimp, red beans and rice with sausage, creole coleslaw, marinated corn and tomato salad, cookies, brownies, sweet tea and lemonade. A cash bar will be available.
•Game ticket to watch the Rockets defeat Appalachian State
•Overnight accommodations in Mobile, Ala. at The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa
•A Dollar General Bowl hoodie, exclusive to travelers on the charter
•All shuttles and gratuities

The total cost of the package, based upon double occupancy, is $1,200 per person. The cost for a single is $1,300. If you already have your game tickets, we will deduct $45 from the cost of your package. A total of 70 seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

For those who will be joining us in Mobile and traveling on their own, you may purchase tickets to the Alumni Association’s Pregame Party by calling our office at 419.530.2586 or by clicking here. Tickets for this event are $35 per person. If you are joining us at the Pregame Party and need a game ticket, the cost is $80 per person. President Sharon Gaber, as well as our band and cheerleaders, will join us at the Pregame Party.

See you in Mobile!

You KNOW that noone actually likes fried green tomatos, right? It's one of those, well you're not cooking them right or you have to add such and such or never had my Grannies (like you can tell Granny her cooking sucks). It's all the other stuff they add in to get past the horrible taste they like, not the actual killed before its time tomato. It's like grits. Ground up hog corn meant to pass as food. It's the fat and ham they like, not the actual sandpaper.

Now my one and only experience with one of those Alumni Buffets, I noticed the average age of the participants. You actually expect no fatalities with that meal? Make sure you have their name on the dotted bequeathment line and buy a rider while you're at it. Will get that new stadium and a raise for the assistant coaches.

I'm more of a thumb a ride and stay in a hostel kind. Spending $1300 for that isn't the kind of thing I can wrap my head around, no offense to anyone. Group packages should be cheaper, this isn't a group package. Things like this are for hobnobbers and old time acquantances. I'm neither.

If I can get down there though, I'd go to the alumni thing, hold the fake tomatos.

Yeah, I keep thinking about that alumni pizza party they gratefully held for us down in Bowling Green. They probably could have given a full pizza to every BG fan in attendance, and still would have had hundreds left over. I don't know, maybe they thought more of it would blow away? Yeah I can't help but to think this is an effort to make up some of the costs of losing all that pizza. Our Alumni Tailgates truly are 2nd to none—don't get me wrong—that's the highlight of this package. But I'd be looking to pay a lot less & spend more than just 2 days there, enjoy a lot more freedom, and celebrate our victory somewhere other than on an airplane.

I'm with you on this. Mostly for convenience and the charter flight allows people to get back early on the 24th and enjoy Christmas Eve at home with family. I think more fans would be heading down if it were on the 22nd vs. 23rd. Weather down there should be better next week than this week. Saw it was down to 35 degrees at night in Mobile this week.

Then we'd be griping about Friday night football... We finally get a late season game on a Saturday, y'all.

Friday vs Sat, not sure that makes much difference as it's not a workweek for many. No high school football. But I think Sat game does work out better for those wanting to go to Mobile events on Friday. I suppose getting home at 4am helps those doing last minute last-minute shopping or needing to prepare for Eve events.

If I get to go, it will be a drive, be in Alabama for at least three days, home on Sun. I prefer to explore a place, meet some people instead of in-out.

it's about the next day being Christmas Eve and travelling to get home in time for family activities.
