That wasn't really an oustide the box hire. He was a steady commodity who hadn't achieved to his expectations but was was still winning nonetheless.

Wasn't going to wow folks at the presser but has really never failed as a head coach (in a broad sense).

He hasn't had one top 100 dude in any of his recruiting classes either.

He just finds good pieces and coaches them up.

But he's getting a top 100 dude this year it looks like. Maybe.

0 recruits so far.

EDIT: Since, I know that's going to rub people the wrong way. He didn't run off any top 100 recruits either.

I don't know if the defense we are playing now will continue through the conference schedule grind but we have a chance at a huge win in a couple Saturdays when UNC comes to Knoxville. Get that one and play .500 ball in the SEC and that is probably enough for an NCAAT bid. Not bad for a team picked 13th in the SEC.

I have not been a fan of Rick's recruiting so far, but I am more than willing to be wrong.
