It would take some time. certainly a longer time line that what we need right now. Right now our best bet is the BJCC facility. If this dies then we go to plan B.

What is Plan B?

Nobody wants to to talk about what Plan B actually is.

If that was a viable option, I’d imagine that would be plan A.

Birmingham just voted out most of the leaders responsible for the revitalization of downtown and nearby neighborhoods. I get the idea that neighborhoods north of Uptown probably don't *want* the BJCC project to happen

Strangely enough, that's Woodfin's position: That Birmingham needs to do something or stop talking about it. That said, his non-commital attitude is doing nothing but dragging it out further. He should show some leadership and stake a claim one way or another, but I have a feeling this is a preview of his entire term in office where he is going to let others take center stage

Woodfin has been in office less than what a week or so... he has to get a grasp of the city's real financial condition. Just because we support the idea, doesn't mean he is not afforded an opportunity to make a sound decision. I would be more skeptical of him if he supported a major project like this, not knowing the cities current status. There are audits, reviews, checking of books going on daily to make sure he knows what he has to work with. He supports the idea of a stadium and renovations to BJCC... he has never said anything less.

On a side note... the last mayor had how many years to deliver...? he spoke a very good game, said all the right things, but delivered what? We can at least give the new mayor a few weeks, right? He also has a council that he has to work with.

I'm probably wrong, but
Weren't the increases in lodging & rental car taxes supposed to go to the football/BJCC plans?
If so, how much $ has been raised?
