Maybe we should lock up jones to a 10 year extension now before someone else steals him away from us.

Yet again, not one mention of a lifetime contract/extension for JJ. Seems a good majority on this thread seem to agree with questioning the rotations and struggles of the 1st half.

I'll stop posting about jeff Jones's job security when the same 3 posters stop questioning the fanship of everyone who is ready for a change in leadership after every single victory, sound like a deal?

I'm sure people are as tired of me pointing out our garbage rpi and total lack of quality wins as I am reading the same "where are the Fire jones guys now" after every win no matter how awful the opponent was or how unimpressed people were by the ball we played.

Long time odu fans are looking for other things to do on gamenights now. That's a problem.

I could get into the total lie of how we were going to change styles once we had the players but really, what's the point?

Some people are so dug in now they refuse to criticize jones no matter what he does and on the other end of the spectrum some fans are struggling to find the joys in wins because they are much more worried about the "bigger picture" and the spectre of jones doing just enough year after year to justify keeping his job while never actually getting us anywhere that matters.

I know which side I have my money on. But can we put an end to this garbage "fanhood questioning"? It serves zero purpose and it really just makes the people making the assertion look asinine. Everyone posting on a message board about odu basketball is a real fan. Period. Just because people have different visions and different expectations for the future of the program doesn't mean anyone is a bad fan.

A legitimate argument could be made that the fans who tolerate mediocrity and refuse to hold anyone accountable are the worst fans possible and the real threat to the program, but again, what would be the point of making this argument? To belittle anyone with a differing viewpoint because you think you know best?

The fact that anyone is here at all to talk about a middling college basketball team in a garbage conference that's lost any semblance of importance in the two major sports means that they have to be actual dedicated fans in the first place.

Unless of course you're just T-Mac.
Be honest. Did you even watch the game?

Watched the last half hour and we looked great against an abysmal basketball team.

I'm still extremely troubled by our apparent total lack of depth and Jeff's inability to figure out a rotation that will keep our guys fresh going into March, especially considering the fact that OOC is TOTALLY MEANINGLESS now.

Why we can't get this young guys experience OOC when they need it the most and when it has no real effect on out season at this point is absolutely mind boggling but kind of par for the course for jones at this point.

The next decision he makes that I agree with will probably be the first lol.
Fair enough. I don't disagree. I was calling for the young guys to see the floor by at least 5 or 7 to go....

It's a question for which there really is no reasonable answer.

Coaching just to win each game and not working towards the future success of the team when you are totally out of range for an at large by game 9 is just mind-bogglingly stupid. Not only are you wearing out our players for the only thing that matters now (success in March) but you are also severely limiting our ability to improve because you are not giving anyone further down on the roster a chance to do so.

How anyone can sugarcoat this development along with the way our season is playing out after the last 4 years and again, a total lack of ability to recruit big men in a system that is built entirely around needing to REBOUND AND DEFEND is beyond comprehension. There is zero justification for the current direction of our program and jones's long term "strategy".

NO ONE questions people’s fandom more than you do.

You add nothing to any threads. All you do is ***** and moan about Jones. We get It you hate the guy. You don’t need to continuously post the same damn thing every game.

Try -for once- actually posting something of value. People would probably drop dead if you actually posted something that indicated that you watch the games instead of your usual copy and paste Jones rant

My definition of a "fan" is someone who is actually happy when his team wins. We played beautiful basketball in the 2nd half. If you're not happy about that, you're not a fan--you're a critic.

Random thoughts on last nights game:

Caver looked like Dave Twardzik out there.12 assists is just awesome. Career high. Player of the game for sure. Ran the show beautifully. Couple of dumb passes but what the hay.

Trey Porter with six blocks. Career high. Had them looking around. Need him in the game and not in foul trouble moving forward.

All around great game by BJ.

In his limited minutes I thought Pickney showed he can handle the rock quite well. Not sure why he doesn't get one minute each half to spell Caver around a timeout.

Man is Hueitt skinny.

Loved the halftime entertainment!

Agree with all of that.

One other point/question: the 1-3-1 zone had Richmond totally baffled. Much of the time it looked like they were having trouble just getting past X. Green at the top. Is that because we've suddenly become capable of running a zone, or because Richmond is just that bad offensively? I honestly don't know.

Yeah, my raisin toast was ready and I stopped my list. The 1-3-1 trap was great! Changed the game. Like to see it most every game.

What has happened to Green's offensive production? His shots last night weren't even close.

He's a freshman. There are ups and downs when learning to play at this level. He'll be fine.
