- The NKU coach told him after the game that that was the best that they had been defended this year.
-Coach said that the strength of the the team is their numbers as shown by the lopsided scoring by our bench over NKU's.
-He is pleased by how the offense is coming along. He feels the defense has been there from the beginning, but now we are beginning to score as well. Also, pleasantly surprised by the team's rebounding as that was a concern of his coming into the season.
-Noted Williams entry into the game as a big turning point, sparking a run that we wouldn't relinquish. Said that his being out for the Fordham game had really concerned him.
-Was asked about Hodges and said as has been noted in posts that the game is really slowing down for him. Says that he is going to be a lot of fun to watch in the coming years.
-Emphasized that the game with Hiwassee was not going to escape the team's attention as he felt that they came back from South Dakota last year and overlooked Lees-McCrae.

I was hoping the Edwards situation would come up again, since it seems Forbes had no plans of playing him against NKU, even after his strong game vs Fordham. It would be nice to know whats going on with him.

Hubbard.... Hadn't thought of that comparison, Rod. I agree.

Other than the amusing banter between coach and the hosts of the show, that was what I most hoping to hear. I cannot get it out of my head that Edwards could be a dynamic, game changing player if circumstances would allow him to play. Really disappointed that he didn't play against NKU.

I see Hubbard more than the other comparisons. However, I think Hodges will have a much better handle and shot.

RE: Official Game Thread: Northern Kentucky (W 84-71)
Thought of Hubbard several times already, even during the open scrimmage; didn't mention it because I thought the other comparisons were closer. So respectfully disagree, but I can see why some would think that.

I think there is *some* similarity in how they are effective within 5 ft., but like shampoo, believe he's already got a better outside shot and handle.
And actually......I'm not sure he plays bigger than his size. He *tries* to, because that's how Forbes is using him. Ok, maybe he plays 6'5" instead of his listed 6'4", but he doesn't play like a 6'6" guy. If I had to have him or Tommy Hubbard playing the 4, give me Hubbard (as I see it now). If I had to have either of them playing the 3, it's a wash - or maybe very slight edge to Hodges.

But all this is just making mountains out of molehills. He's his own bad self, and he'll be making us adjust our comparisons ad infinitum for four years, hopefully.

I meant to add something about Williams to my post-game comments, too. I did mention that he had 8 points in 8 minutes - but also noted that the 'energy' seemed to ramp up with him in there. That play where he split the double team on him to feed Jurkin for the wide-open slam was genius, and shows what he's capable of. He was a spark. Maybe 'just' an additional one, but a spark nonetheless.

Ten years down the road in comparing players, we may hear, ''that guy reminds me of Bo Hodges.''

We didn't because this was a revenge game.
