New Year's Eight Bowls?
If the New Year's Six were to expand to the New Year's Eight (not that this is likely), which two bowls would be added? The poll consists of NFL stadiums, which I'm told are the best sites for New Year's bowls due to their amenities. If you think they'd be held elsewhere, feel free to vote for one or both of the "Other" options and share your suggestion in a post!

You missed the most likely addition to the top level bowl ranks of them all: the Citrus Bowl. That has long been the highest paying bowl outside of the BCS/CFP system by a fair margin and with the recent renovation to its stadium, it would be #1 on the list.

The new Las Vegas stadium would also be intriguing. My main criteria for a top tier bowl site is if it's a place that you'd want to visit in December/January completely outside of bowl trip purposes and both Orlando and Las Vegas certainly fit the bill.

Absolutely agree. Destination locations and more flexibility for great matchups.

In the NY8 scenario, the PAC should contract with either the Fiesta or new Las Vegas bowl and the Big 12 should contract with the Cotton for guaranteed landing spots for their #2 teams.

Does the Citrus Bowl have NFL-type amenities? And would the current conferences tied in to it be willing to sacrifice control?

I'd guess that when the +1 expands to a real playoff, the first round would be the week after the conference championships and on campus.

Well, the NFL is effectively making Camping World Stadium into the new permanent home for the Pro Bowl, so the league at least finds the facilities to be sufficient on that front.

Whether the current conferences tied in would sacrifice control is a different story since it involves the same parties that control the Orange Bowl (SEC, Big Ten, ACC and Notre Dame). Of course, the Citrus Bowl could certainly be elevated and the conferences could retain the control just in the same way as the Rose, Sugar and Orange Bowls are contract bowls. Having conference tie-ins and becoming a top level bowl aren't mutually exclusive. Remember that all of the contract bowls have to give up their tie-ins to be a semifinal once every three years, so those are the years where someone like the Citrus picks up those tie-ins would effectively be a wash.

Las Vegas wouldn't be in the running. The hotels are already packed enough for NYE. There is a reason why they like the pre-Christmas bowl and will be in the running for the CFP Championship game though.

I do think an expansion to a NY8 would result in all the P5 conferences securing contracts for at least their #1 and #2 teams. Here's my proposal from another thread, slightly modified:

Rose (Pasadena, CA): Big Ten #1 vs. Pac-12 #1
Sugar (New Orleans, LA): Big 12 #1 vs. SEC #1
Cotton (Arlington, TX): Big 12 #2 vs. At-Large
Orange (Miami Gardens, FL): ACC/ND #1 vs. At-Large
Peach (Atlanta, GA): ACC/ND #2 vs. SEC #2
Citrus (Orlando, FL): Big Ten #2 vs. At-Large (or ACC #2 if ND in Orange or Peach)
Fiesta (Glendale, AZ): Pac-12 #2 vs. At-Large
8th bowl (Vegas/Houston?): At-Large vs. At-Large

* at least one of the At-Large teams must be from the G5
