start at about the 10:00 mark of this video and watch to the end. There are more great quotes from him. Coach Hudson is such a class act.

The guy loves everything about Western and supports every sport....

This is the other side of coaching and I know the money involved is totally different and life changing. But totally different take from two Western coaches

Quote:Taggart teams have now qualified for four bowl games in his career. He's only coached one of them. Two other times, he skipped the game and jumped to a better gig during bowl season. It's what Taggart does. Every program wants to be bowl eligible. Typically, Taggart celebrates his bowl eligibility by packing things in cardboard boxes, forwarding his mail and throwing out his sports apparel wardrobe.

Absolutely true about him. I’ve seen him at Western mens and womens basketball games, at football games and baseball games. Before Stansbury got here you could ease in the practice gym to watch our men hoopsters during summer pickup play and dude was always there checking out the latest additions. You could ask him who was who and he knew. Guy is a Western sports fanatic. Hell, I’m sure if I’d ever attended a womens soccer or track and field event I would have ran into Coach Hudson at those as well. Just a good guy overall.

Glad I watched the video.

That's not true at all.....

Willie was offered a contract that would have made him the highest paid coach in the SBC. He did not accept it when offered. We all know what Willie was waiting for and there is no way in hell if Willie didn't take the USF job...

he was getting fired

Gary might have been pissed at Willie but he wasn't going to fire him and pay a buyout

If you were close with willie that isn't how things exactly went down.

Willie's track record of leaving and not coaching in bowl games (I think he is 1/4 now) are not helping you win this argument.

I don't have insider information, but I do remember Willie's last season at WKU. We were on a tear, physically dominating opponents. Then we lost a heart breaking OT game against a good ULM team at home. After that there were rumors and grumblings. Maybe it was the ULM loss that did it. Maybe it was the word that Willie was talking to other programs that did it. Either way, we tanked and he left.

RE: WKU volleyball coach goes viral
And now there is this article on Forbes about him....

Quote:Travis Hudson could go big time if he wanted to.

The bigger name schools call, asking him to take over their women's volleyball programs. But Hudson stays put. He's been the head coach at Western Kentucky for the last 23 years and he has no plans of changing that.
