Blazer Almanac - December 4
December 4

UAB Basketball is 8-5 on December 4.

- UAB traveled to Johnson City, Tennessee, ranked 17th in the country to play East Tennessee State. UAB won 63-44 and was led by Jerome Minch with 17 points and ten rebounds.

- After getting beat by 41 points by UNLV in Vancouver, the road trip did not get better as the Blazers made a stop in Oregon to play the Ducks. The Blazers were blown out again 98-71.

- UAB defeated Southern 100-88.

- UAB played at #7 Temple who was coming off an upset of #3 Kansas. Both teams played excellent defense which resulted in a low scoring game. UAB's Corey Jackson had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer, but his three point shot bounced off the rim, and Temple won 55-52.

- UAB lost at Vanderbilt 66-62.
- UAB beat North Texas 79-73.

- The Blazers played at Tulsa, coached by Bill Self. UAB played very poorly turning the ball over 29 times and shooting 37.5% from the field. This resulted in a 88-73 loss.

- UAB beat Alcorn State 102-61.
- UAB lost at Richmond 72-68.

- UAB won at Marshall 81-78. Marshall stayed close the entire game, but UAB's bench was the advantage, outscoring the Herd bench 28-8.

- UAB led 33-6 midway through the first half as they went on to trounce Alabama A&M 91-48. Robert Vaden shot 70% and had 20 points.

- In the very first Bartow Classic, UAB played East Tennessee State, coached by Murray Bartow making his first trip to Bartow Arena since leaving in 2002. The actual game was an afterthought, and the main event was honoring Coach Bartow who had recently been inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame. Video tributes from coaches around the country and former players saluted Bartow in front of a crowd of 6411. The night was special as well because it seemed symbolically welcomed Murry Bartow back into the UAB family. His team lost to the Blazers 74-52, which outrebounded the Bucs 52-28. Elijah Millsap had 15 boards, Kenneth Cooper had 10 and Jamarr Sanders had nine. Gene Bartow said that he had never seen a better offensive rebounding effort.

- UAB defeated Morehead State 58-48.
