True; at one time emu was a bottom feeder in the MAC, and now they are.......

....oh, my bad. I guess fortunes don't always change quickly. Sorry.

That's cute, I understand your anger. Funny thing though, EMU now on a level playing field with WMU. Let that truth sink in.
Nice try, but there is nothing level about that playing field. The Broncos played in the Cotton Bowl last season. That doesn't just go away because they didn't go to a bowl this season.

Sure, if lying to yourself makes you sleep better at night. 'last season'........ haha

Apparently you didn't notice that PJ left, you're right back to mediocrity, and Cotton Bowl is now No Bowl.

At least you'll always have those Fleck memories.

You have essentially no memories. And you've lost the last three, two on your home field. And finished behind us all three years.

You also have no fans and a stupid grey field brought to you by 15-34 Chris Creighton.

Nobody here really hates EMU. Nobody really cares one way or another. They're a non-factor. Why come and talk smack? You're just going to hear about how useless your football program is. You get off on that or something?

Actually, this season was a little sub-par. It was a reboot with new QB + new WR set + new coaching staff + above-average injuries (including QB once he started getting on track), and @NIU+@Toledo said year too. So as far as zooming out and looking at history, it's not a huge surprise to go 6-6 said year... just a bit disappointing to fans.

"Back to" would be having a typical year of 7-5 or 8-4, depending on the schedule. Typical for EMU is 3-9. EMU's been better lately, and if your coach stays, will be better, but still... what would be a 6-6 year from before (a Wow season) is now going to be 8-4 with a favorable schedule... not a ton of steps better as it's a lot harder to climb Up once past .500. A 6-6 year will be an-OK, but no surprise, and a 7-5 team may not end up being the biggest shocker, but still a Happy Happy season.

EMU's going to need to do a lot more to say we're on the same level. You can make the argument for WMU playing @EMU, this year, we're roughly in the same "bracket". Ok. A low-end re-loading WMU team yeah, that has happened. But no, you aren't "as good as us". You'll need to do more to establish that.

What gave you that notion? Still losing to us on your home turf during a down year for us and a relative up year for you? Still finishing behind us in the standings? Three straight losses and finishes behind us in the standings? Getting hammered by us on the recruiting trail?

Must be the win over Rutgers.

Haha, right. What gave me that notion?......I was at the EMU/WMU game this year. We outplayed you and gave it away.

Look up and down our schedule and the scores, compared to yours, and ask yourself who underperformed. We just had one of those years where the bounces went the wrong way. Finished winning 3 of 4.

PJ is gone, give Lester a mulligan this year I guess, but I'd be very concerned about Lester, just like most of your board seems to be.

Looks like whoever finds the best QB next year wins the MAC. Wide open race.

I've given EMU credit for being much improved this season, you should have finished with a better record. But if playing at the level of a disappointing WMU season is your measure for 'having arrived' that kind of telegraphs your low expectations.

EMU fans have the right to feel optimistic for the future, they don't have the right for feeling smug. You have no history of winning consistently to earn that right. How long has it been since EMU won the MAC? Wasn't it 1989 or something like that???

Well, here's to next year. I think Wassink has the ability to be better than Terrell. Hopefully he takes that next step. I think he had a better first year than Terrell did. Bogan can easily pick up the slack from Jarvion, so I think we will be fine at RB. Most of our OL is back, but WR scares me. There's no Jordan White or Corey Davis in that group. No one stood out, they were all just kind of bunched up together in the mediocre tier. We will need that one go-to guy to step up sooner rather than later. Our defense will be decimated and will our biggest weakness. I think 6-6 again next year is about right.

Everything affects everything else in football. Tremendous players can turn a bad play into a positive play. Great coaches can turn average players into a great team. A great offense can keep the defense off the field, making it look like the defense was great because it gave up so few points. A great defense can bail out a poor offense. Quarterbacks can make receivers look good, and receivers can make quarterbacks look good. A great offense of line can make an average running back look spectacular, and vice versa. In essence though, football is very much a team sport, and all of the parts need to be working in harmony. The grand conductor, and the person who makes it all work, or who is the reason for it all failing, is the head coach. There are physical aspects, mental and emotional aspects, and other factors. The coach is in charge of it all.

There is a lot of schadenfreude going on in the MAC world right now. And it was to be expected.

Every MAC fan would kill to experience a season we had last year: Top 15 ranking, ESPN Game Day, NY6 bowl. Let’s face it, that will only happen to a MAC team about once per decade.

I envied NIU when they went to the Orange Bowl. And there was a lot of envy toward us last season.

So among many MAC fans out there, our ‘hurt’ this season has been satisfying.

RE: No Bowl...it’s official
I was watching the 4th quarter of South Alabama/N Mexico St (5-6 entering the game) . NMSU is a bad program, first bowl invite since 1960. The AD admitted in a interview the only bowl we can accept if we win is Arizona Bowl. A bus ride away. 26,000 people are in attendance as the community made this a must win game. I'm thinking these guys are going to totally disrupt WMUs chances to go bowling. It would have made WMU, USTA, and Buffalo the only remaining six win teams. The CMU, Akron games did us in bottom line. A 7-8 win season and we were going somewhere. The NIU choice is interesting at Detroit. No fan base but nowhere to send the Huskies after the dust settled.

Ford Field is going to be a ghost town for that bowl with NIU and Duke...

Lot's of guys injured that could use the rest, and let's be honest, our prospects for a good bowl and winning weren't all that great. I do think we could have used the extra practice time for our younger players though. That might be the most disappointing aspect of this right now.

Tried uploading a pic of Steven's knee. Pic's just a bit too big. Looks very similar to a gunshot wound, without the hole.

Glad to have him, and his family, part of the Western Michigan University football program!

Crowd will be around 20,000. Quick group will giveaway many tickets. I'm sure NIU/Duke were forced to buy several thousand seats.
