First of all, it's against Florida State, an old rivalry that happens to be a P5 school and it brings excitement to our fanbase by playing the Seminoles. Whether we win or lose...it's still better than playing in the NO bowl against a sunbelt team. This bowl vs our opponent brings more national attention..even if FSU is only 6-6.

Now THIS is some legit good news. Best USM has had in a long, long time. A win would be a beautiful thing.

I’m excited about this bowl and I think you’ll find most of our fanbase is as well. Time to bring a phenomenal crowd to Shreveport. If we can get 7,500 to Dallas the day after Christmas, we should bring 10,000+ to Shreveport. The key there is SHOULD not will.

FAU is NOT excited .....they now think they are the Goliaths, not the Davids.....but I know how they feel, since the Hawaii Bowl fiasco still stinks!

They'll be playing in a mostly empty stadium regardless of the bowl location, so I can see their beef. Just like I preferred to play an average Penn State team in Texas rather than Nevada in Hawaii, they would love a crack at FSU instead of whoever the hell they will be playing in Boca. However, it is much better for us this go around.

That CUSA can’t place its champion into a bowl at least against another G5 champion is pretty ridiculous. But hells, yeah, it is about time we beat the system instead of the system beating us.

Anyone know the year of this Independence Bowl trophy? Don't ask how I have it.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous for our terrible conference to not set the Champ up better... Even though FSU is a down year, we got the best match up of all 9 teams.

Of course that could have something to do with us being a better name and nobody giving a rat's butt about FAU.

They may have, but I can't see them even needing to. Independence Bowl never once showed interest in FAU. They wanted a local CUSA team that would bring fans. And despite our subpar attendance this season, we've proven time and again that we bring good crowds to drivable bowl games. FAU wouldn't bring anyone to Shreveport. Heck, we'll probably have more than FSU there.
