If I recall, 2008 NO Bowl wasn't highly rated at first, but ended up being one of the most watched and exciting bowls of the season. I recall my dad watching that game every single time it came on television the weeks following. Like 20 times haha

Florida State safety Derwin James has announced via Instagram that he is declaring for the 2018 NFL draft and will not participate in the Seminoles' bowl game.

James was named first-team all-ACC this season. He was the only FSU player to make it.

James finished his redshirt sophomore season with 84 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, one sack, and one defensive touchdown after missing 11 games in 2016.

He will leave FSU with 186 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three interceptions, and one defensive touchdown.

James is projected to be taken in the top-15 by most mock drafts and be either the first or second defensive back off the board.

You're trophy does not have a label ?

Unfortunately no. It just says "Independence Bowl Champions." No year or anything. It was stuck away in Vann Hall, and was going in the trash, but I saved it.

Another FSU player skipping the bowl game.....and this one is a defensive starter too

https://floridastate.247sports.com/Bolt/...-112392690

TALLAHASSEE -- Junior defensive end Josh Sweat confirmed that he won't play in Florida State's bowl game and is entering the NFL Draft.

Sweat told the Tallahassee Democrat on Sunday evening that he wouldn't play in the Walk-On's Independence Bowl on Dec. 27, which confirmed a report on Saturday by Warchant.com that said Sweat was planning to enter the 2018 NFL Draft and was skipping the Southern Miss game. On Saturday night, Sweat's dad told Noles247 that a decision had not been made.

Now Sweat is preparing for his future in pro football. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Sweat is considered a prospect who could be taken among the top 100 picks. Sweat had 56 tackles and led FSU in tackles for loss (12.5) and sacks (5.5) in 2017.

fwiw....this is how much much I like this team with KG against this match-up.....does it mean anything in scope other than I put my arse on the line at times???? nope.....IMO, this team is better than their record indicates if KG is at the helm.....

this is an opportunity for many a player to shine in an isolated spotlight in quite some time......

pay att'n to the time stamp and the dollar amt....

also, fwiw, the line jumped to 16.5 and backed down to 15.5....

And another FSU defensive player not in the mix. Their senior regular starting ILB is nowhere to be found on their recently released depth chart according to Tomahawk Nation.

CSUA is 1-2 head to head against the SUNBELT in bowl games this year. So i dont care if we play FSU's complete second unit we still probably get our butts handed to us.

if anyone on the staff sees ^^^, I immediately make that bulletin board locker room mat'l.....

this team is pretty solid with KG at the helm.....

I've been wrong before.....however, IMO, this group not only has a chance to cover, but win it outright....

RE: Southern Miss V FSU in Indy Bowl..
The more I've thought about our season, the more I've realized that, outside of the North Texas game, if we had a competent QB playing in each game, we'd probably have about 10+ wins. With that said, we didn't and that's just the hand we've been dealt.

We have a chance to go from 7 wins to 9 wins this season. If Abraham comes in and is a reliable QB, we could increase that again next year. Our recruiting is doing much better as well. With JSU, ULM, App State, and Auburn our OOC next year, I could see us breaking 10 wins. Once again, comes down to if Abraham is the competent QB we need. I know some will say KG is that QB, but he throws just as many jumps balls as KH, they just aren't intercepted as much. He's a better game manager than KH, but isn't the most reliable QB ever. We need someone who can manage the game and put up points, something I don't necessarily trust either of our current QBs to do.

You know, it’s usually people associated with the other team who provide that.

We’re National Champions in F***ed Uppedness if nothing else.

Its just my opinion, of which i'm entitled, and I will be very happy if USM wins. If the players and coaches need motivation from a message board to get up for a game against FSU then we probably need new players and coaches.

We already established that need when you said Florida State’s 2nd team will hand us our butts.

It is what it is. We play in a crap conference that we cant even win. That doesnt translate into a victory against FSU. I hope i'm wrong and will be the first to admit it when and if we win.

This is one of those "if we don't beat them now, we will never beat them again" games.

So kind of like this year's Tennessee game.

Yep, a little bit.

Just hope Keon doesn't win the starting job back before kickoff.

"IF" you are going to quote me i "HOPE" that you could get it right. Don't pick out what you like to fit your narrative.
