You knew it was going to happen
I heard TV commentators this week calling for the college football playoff to be expanded to eight teams. If they do that, then the calls will start for 16 teams. I figure the bowls are pretty much a dead issue.

I’d love 16. All the conference champs and 6 at large. That way everyone has a chance, however slim.

If it is a "playoff" how does a team that doesn't win it's conference, it's division, or even play in their conference's championship game get in? In all honesty, Alabama is likely better than Ohio State. Still a team shouldn't be rewarded for losing its last game and not getting to play in a championship game this weekend. Ohio State beats undefeated Wisconsin. Alabama sits home and watches, but they get in.

hoops teams lose their conference all the time and make the playoff aka ncaa tournent. criteria for quafilying for playoff does not require you win conference, same as bball. difference is in hoops conf winner guaranteed a bid, football not. pretty smiple if you ask me.
