RE: So schedules don't matter
One loss...one loss...one loss. The final four all have one loss. OSU played UNLV which had an easier schedule than Mercer. OSU got blown out this year. I cannot believe you called the SEC a bunch of patsies. USC had a better resume than OSU. Wisconsin played the patsies all year. They saved OSU another Clemson drubbing on national TV. 05-stirthepot

TV execs need to up the payouts to justify some extra juice in the OOC scheduling. No playoff expansion needed. It's watered down as it is.

If FSU hadn't fallen off a cliff through the season nobody would be complaining.

Scheduling #3 FSU at a neutral site was on paper a tougher game than Oklahoma at home.

It's pretty simple. The committee ultimately rewards being a Power 5 with the fewest losses. Everything else is to fill time on Tuesday evenings on ESPN.

FSU also had all their best players suited up too.

Well 7-5 Iowa wasn't "tough scheduling." A team that loses to a 7-5 team in November by 31 has zero business being in a 4 team playoff.

Honestly Alabama is the better team.

But if they had been held out it would have sent a message to the SEC to schedule 10 P5 games like 3 P5 conferences and half the ACC schools.

Of course OSU played on the road at Oklahoma the year before, which you will never see Alabama do.

No, it would have sent a message that politics matter and ESPN determines who gets in.

Now if it was Mississippi St. who was 11-1, would the 2nd SEC team still get in?

Wisconsin should have skipped the Big 10 title game and they’d be in. It’s official: conference championships mean absolutely nothing. All hail Notre Dame, they get it.

Maybe we need conference “third place” games. Imagine if Alabama had beaten an 8-win South Carolina team yesterday, or if Washington could avenge its losing as against Arizona State.

I think the committee is willing to overlook a small "oops" game like Clemson against Syracuse by 3 points.

That Iowa game was an "I don't care game". That is not championship level football.

I think we all would like to see the SEC stop playing so many FCS schools and instead play a 10th P5.

That would end all arguments.

Not "never". Alabama played at Penn State in 2011.

If you want to complain that teams are playing big non-conference games at neutral sites now instead of home/away, go ahead, but that's also about money because stadium operators, sponsors, and ESPN are paying each team $5-8 million to play in one of those games.

Ohio State had two losses and weren’t competitive in either one. Last year they got in under the same circumstances Alabama did this year. They set the precedent. At least the committee is consistent.
