16-team playoff format
Here's how you'd determine the teams:

1) 10 conference champions
2) 6 teams that lost their title game
2) 2 MUST come from G5 teams

If all 10 conference champs make it, as well as 6 teams that lost the CCG, you're guaranteed at least 6 G5 teams. I can also guarantee that there will never be a situation where 6 G5 teams actually deserve being ranked in the Top 16.

Are we paying the students for these extra games?

So you would leave out a 9-3 Notre Dame in favor of MAC Championship Game loser Akron, who finished 7-6?

And he would also leave out #3 Texas and #7 Texas Tech who didn't win their division in 2008, but were in a 3 way tie with OU, all 3 teams going 11-1.

Just go back to the old BCS formula and take the 10 conference champs and the top 6 non champs as wildcards. Independent schools would have access, but it would be tough.

FCS, Div 2, Div 3 can have an inclusive playoff, but FBS can't because 'too many games'? Mmmmmkay.

Yes, I would leave out ND. How would they have rated in the ACC? Chalky: I think your BCS idea is the best. Bullet: Not my fault the Big XII had a top heavy conference that year.
