Nobody is playing better IMO than the Clemson Tigers.
I think this hurt Ohio State. Once Clemson crushed Miami, it became clear that they would be #1 and thus Ohio State or Alabama would play them in the playoffs.
And whereas Alabama and Clemson have played two classic down to the wire playoff games, Clemson crushed Ohio State like a bug last year, and I think the committee thought "who is more likely to give Clemson a good game"?

This makes more sense than just losing to Iowa the way OSU did.
