RE: Friday night or Saturday afternoon .?
I was told by a friend in the know that the semi-final game, that receives a participant from the Friday quarter-final game, will also be played on Friday. This was not favored by the university as it creates logistical dilemmas for commencement.

Yeah, but I'd think it would allow for better student turnout overall IF it happens.

Hmmm, looks like they do separate ceremonies for December graduate students (Fri night) and undergraduates (Sat a.m.) That must be new. Yeah a 7pm Fri ceremony would be a mess but a Sat game isn’t much better as the Convo lot, at a minimum, would be off limits until after the graduation.

Bump, not sure the source, but this is interesting if true. I’m guessing Friday is considered the prime slot game (tv audience wise).
It makes sense that winner of the “prime” game may be considered the best team to showcase the following week.

OK time to bump this again. Ive heard that JMU is pushing really hard for a Sat game due to graduation this time. But the control is still with ESPN. Friday night game the students will be able to stay as they have to be out by Sat eve. A Sat game they have to find a place to stay or drive home after the game. I wish the admin would push the students out day to Sun eve.

In the past the Admin has kept the dorms open an extra day to accommodate the students who want to stay for the game. If we get the Saturday time slot I hope they do the same as in past years.

RE: Friday night or Saturday afternoon .?
What is the graduation schedule that we have to deal with?
Anyway - on the NDSU game, they mentioned the two time slots, said that they knew who the hosts were (us and NDSU - this was at the end of the game), but made it pretty clear that the announcers/producers did not know which game had which slot.

I'm hopeful ESPN cuts to the chase and goes ahead announcing Fri/Sat schedule soon. They now know NDSU is hosting for sure and SDSU will be traveling to God's Country to face the Good Guys. Does America really give a rat's testicle about whether SDSU-JMU or NDSU hosting either KSU or the Softies is in either time slot? SDSU-JMU has the far greater chance (IMO) of being a close game till the end for whatever that might be worth.

I just can’t believe that is true. Say that Weber had upset us were they really going to play a Friday night game outdoors in South Dakota?

Friday is ESPN2 while Saturday is ESPNU so I'd expect NDSU to play on Friday and we play Saturday.

Friday this week will be 8:00 which will make it easier for those that work.
Want Friday because it means SDSU would travel east on a short week.
We need every benefit this week.
The rabbits could be better than anyone we’ve faced the last 25 games.

Would be surprised if JMU vs SDSU is not the Friday game. Saturday is probably better for attendance if the dorms stay open, but I can’t imagine NDSU vs Kennesaw/SHSU being considered a better contest for prime time.

Plus it puts both JMU and NDSU on normal one week schedules.
I hope JMU is not pushing for Saturday. I promise you Houston and the coaches want SDSU to be on a short week.

not so sure of that.. we have a lot of injuries that could use an extra day.. we may benefit more from a Saturday game than be hurt by it...

Guess it depends on how they look at it... I'm sure ours will be a better game, but NDSU is still the biggest name in FCS.

I don't see JMU choosing Friday night purely due to it conflicting with graduate school ceremony at 7pm.
Graduation is on Saturday morning which leaves plenty of time to prepare for the game (parking especially). Also there's a chance we could get more people to the game. What better way to celebrate your graduation than watching the Dukes play.
If I were a betting man, I'd say our game is Saturday.

Except it’s not JMU’s choice. ESPN will decide based on what they think is best for ratings and entertainment. That translates to $$$ for them.

I think the 8 o’clock start time also helps with logistics from JMU’s point of view. The graduation folks can get in, get parked and to the ceremony well before game time.

I don’t care which one they choose as long as it’s saturday.
I’m 6 hours ahead of EST. 2am start time is brutal.
