Memphis 2018
Who does Memphis have coming back?

The OOC schedule is relatively soft, depending on if Missouri improves.

09/01 - Mercer
09/15 - Georgia State
09/22 - South Alabama
10/20 - at Missouri

Ha. I doubt 70, but I get what you are talking about. The problem is, you would not be able to stop us either. I think it would be a good game, and the fact that we run the ball well, would keep the score down a bit.

Seriously though, how much are you losing? Who will be the QB?

When we scheduled Missouri, they were winning the SEC East twice in a row. And they just won 6 in a row this year to make a bowl.

Our philosophy is to schedule the best P5 we can make a H&H with, one FCS, and 2 G4s.

QB is the big question. If Norvell stays, he will likely bring in another Juco QB, or a transfer from Ole Miss, perhaps.

Other big loss is WR Anthony Miller, but we are deep at that position.

Losing other WRs Mayhue and Proctor, but still plenty to replace them.

Losing one starter on O line, and one in the 2 deep.

On defense, we are losing a great LB in Genard Avery, a good S in Jonathan Cook, another good LB in Shareef White, a backup D lineman (Slaughter), and that's about it for the whole 2 deep. We also may gain 2-3 players with a 6th year due to injury.

Most of our best players are FR and Sophs. We should have a deep roster for the next 2 years.

Biggest issues are replacing Riley Ferguson and retaining Norvell.

But we should be good for the next 2 years, assuming we find a serviceable QB. Right now, we have little used David Moore, but I imagine someone will show up from elsewhere to win the starting job.

If Norvell stays and we find a QB, I would say West favorites to UCF's East favorites, especially if they get Sumlin. And UCF as AAC favorites.

Houston will challenge and SMU as well if they keep Harris. Our offense will still be strong with our stable of RBs. D should be much improved as we were young this year.

UCF could be undefeated again. They will be scary good

No, the new coach will cost you a game or two. I never trust a first year HC. Herman and Coker are the exceptions to the rule.

I don't have any problem with 1 P5--would rather have 2--and 2 G5s as long as those G5s are decent. No reason we couldn't do a series with Col St, Fresno, Boise, or BYU. Let's get Air Force.

I'm always told that South Alabama, Georgia State and ULM are for recruiting purposes, who knows.

Well, with Norvell and Co back, Memphis will continue to be a threat. Maintaining coaches is how you sustain success. Congrats.

Wish their schedule would upgrade. Obviously not their fault. Would be nice to see them play Tennessee every year.

That wont happen. They only want to schedule Memphis when we are really down. Postponed a game or 2 back around 2003-ish when Memphis had Wimprine, Deangelo, etc and UT sucked. They ducked us in basketball throughout the 1980s but want to get a series going when we have clowns like Pastner.

Identical dynamic between us and ChicKUn except maybe even slightly worse.

I would be fine not playing those ******** ever again in any sport. We are 400 miles apart. Nothing really in common with them geographically other than inhabiting different extremities of an abnormally shaped state. If we are going to play regional SEC teams, I'd rather play Ole Miss, Mississippi State, or Missouri.

Arkansas can go to hell too.

Sounds like Memphis will be like UCF. The bulk of the team returning. Memphis keeps its off feild general but loses its on field general. UCF keeps its on field general but loses its off field general.

I think Wichita State fans problem is that they’ve been isolated for so long they think they are unique in everything

Mizzou vs Memphis rivalry might be ideal. I know a ton of Mizzou frats that have formals/semi's in Memphis. And their fans travel pretty well to Vandy. Throw in the basketball and mascot dynamic and it makes a lot of sense.
