OT-Complaints About Rice MBB...Checkout Georgia Tech
When Tech hired Pastner it wasn’t a popular choice but Tech had been down and Pastner over achieved taking Tech to a 23-17 record and being named ACC coach of this year. But this year has had a Jekyll and Hyde start. Several tough OOC games surrounded by really soft cupcakes (for an ACC school).

They started out in China vs a depleted UCLA(Pomroy-45) team and lost 63-60. Back home they beat Bethune Cookman (P-327) 65-62. Next a win at home over tomorrow’s Rice opponent UTRGV (P-266) 78-68. Won against UNT (P-297) 63-49 at home. A very good win at home over Nortwestern (P-52) 52-51. Tonight they lost at home to Grambling (P-330) 64-63. Part of the rest of their OCC schedule at home includes Florida A&M (337), Wright State (201), and Coppin State (347).

worth noting they are without Josh Okogie (suspension/injury) and full-strength Ben Lammers (All-ACC/Rice semi-Legacy-I think he had an uncle or something that went to Rice).

But still unacceptable to lose to Grambling.

I count four wins in your post including against a top 60 team

That is two orders of magnitude better than the rice team

Not trying to be an arse but what is the point ? Home loss to Grambling or losing to UCLA with bruins having three guys in jail? Izzo lost to TX southern at home a few years back and ended up a 1 or 2 seed anyway

We trailed late at home to at Thomas.

I’m not dissing Pera by the way and I believe we have more talent than we had after Braun’s team all quit

But our over under for wins on the year is probably four

It is their Jekyll & Hyde performance as I said. Good wins, bad wins, and bad losses. Plus an subset of their OCC schedule should be embarrassing for an ACC school. One or two +200 teams at home but four over 300 and several others just under.

OK got it. their jekyll was beating Norwestern. Ours was beating Northwestern State. so there is some symmetry there.

Hey, the last Rice men's basketball team to win a conference championship actually lost to Northwestern State. So at least we have improved there.

I remember a game years ago where Northwestern came into Autry and lost to the Owls. The Wildcats were big and slow.

Northwestern State has been to the NCAAs a lot more recently than we have...maybe we should drop down to the Southland! My high school English teacher's husband still coaches the team, so that is cool.
