IMHO
Oakland CLEARLY had better players.
They are DEEP, athletic, and talented.
We had trouble hanging with this team at home when their best player didn't start, and was at less than full speed.
Many of your other observations are certainly "head scratchers".
I can see why these comments would make you scratch your head, mainly because you don't have any idea what you're talking about. This game was close and should have been won by WMU, due to questionable coaching decisions. WMU scoring leader was on the bench for stupid a fouls and if your team hadn't shot 58% from 3 this game wouldnt even be close. If you watched the entire game you would have seen that the game went down to a couple of final possession that WMU blew. The best team won the game, The players on both side matched up. OU team won the game "congratulation" but I recommend that you watch the game again on ESPN3 but this time watch the game with your eyes open.
Harsh!! ESSS has outstanding eyes, that comment is uncalled for.
We got out to a decent lead. After Wilders third foul early in the 2nd, he got to sit for a long time, Hawk kept close track and let him sit until they caught us, not a bad strategy, he is a difference maker especially when fresh, that was the right time to get him back in the game. Remember, we say Oakland is deep, you get that way for a reason, we need to play our bench so they are ready for league play. So letting them cover Thomas was fine too, gain experience vs. a fast experienced and talented team.
Often coaches will take that technical to arouse and wake up their team. This time that didn’t work, instead Oakland went on a 10point run and Chip is right that was the difference. The breaks.
That last 48 seconds lasted forever. I think Hawk is as good as anybody in the game with time management, we’ve won tons of games in the last minute, it didn’t come together. I was fine with Bryce taking that three, except he was moving sideways on the shoot and it went off the right side of the rim. You can’t always go with the exact same guy at crunch time and Bryce is an outstanding money guy too.
The game went to Oakland, they are a very god team, but they seemed very excited to beat us, especially in UA. Not the end of the world early in the season.
