The players on both side matched up.

OU team won the game "congratulation" but I recommend that you watch the game again on ESPN3 but this time watch the game with your eyes open.

Dude

I was agreeing with your assessment of some questionable game decisions, the technical foul, etc.

"Head scratchers" from a fans point of view....as in "WTF"?

Are you always such an a$$hole?

IMHO

Oakland CLEARLY had better players.

They are DEEP, athletic, and talented.

We had trouble hanging with this team at home when their best player didn't start, and was at less than full speed.

Many of your other observations are certainly "head scratchers".
I can see why these comments would make you scratch your head, mainly because you don't have any idea what you're talking about. This game was close and should have been won by WMU, due to questionable coaching decisions. WMU scoring leader was on the bench for stupid a fouls and if your team hadn't shot 58% from 3 this game wouldnt even be close. If you watched the entire game you would have seen that the game went down to a couple of final possession that WMU blew. The best team won the game, The players on both side matched up. OU team won the game "congratulation" but I recommend that you watch the game again on ESPN3 but this time watch the game with your eyes open.

Harsh!! ESSS has outstanding eyes, that comment is uncalled for.

We got out to a decent lead. After Wilders third foul early in the 2nd, he got to sit for a long time, Hawk kept close track and let him sit until they caught us, not a bad strategy, he is a difference maker especially when fresh, that was the right time to get him back in the game. Remember, we say Oakland is deep, you get that way for a reason, we need to play our bench so they are ready for league play. So letting them cover Thomas was fine too, gain experience vs. a fast experienced and talented team.

Often coaches will take that technical to arouse and wake up their team. This time that didn’t work, instead Oakland went on a 10point run and Chip is right that was the difference. The breaks.

That last 48 seconds lasted forever. I think Hawk is as good as anybody in the game with time management, we’ve won tons of games in the last minute, it didn’t come together. I was fine with Bryce taking that three, except he was moving sideways on the shoot and it went off the right side of the rim. You can’t always go with the exact same guy at crunch time and Bryce is an outstanding money guy too.

The game went to Oakland, they are a very god team, but they seemed very excited to beat us, especially in UA. Not the end of the world early in the season.

RE: Oakland At WMU on Saturday
Thought it was a great game. We lost...move on. Good talent on both teams but to say we have more talent than Oakland is just not true. Just look at the background of some of their stars (Texas and Illinois transfers). And then, the look of their bigs were much different than we typically see from MAC teams (long, lean, with offensive ability). Couple that with their experience (several 5th year players) and you can see why they are picked to win the Horizon. I like our group and the outlook for our season. I just wish more people would realize the quality of the overall product on the floor and come out and watch this group. Very entertaining game.

Losing to Oakland is no embarrassment.

I do want to say though, I hate this argument that "nonconference doesn't matter because the MAC is a one bid league".

I understand what people are saying with that, however, that attitude is part of why we end up with a 14 seed when we finally make the dance. Making the tournament is great, but if you want a decent matchup once there, these games are very important. There's a good chance OU wins the Horizon, this would have been a quality win.

Let’s see, Jalen Walker who scored 32 was a top 5 player out of Pershing who orinally signed with Texas, before transferring home. Nunn played for Simeon, a perennial top 5 team in Illinois. Jaylen Hayes out of Lansing had a dozen offers out of HS, including us. Brock, their center out of DC is long, athletic, 3 blocks, 10 boards, and was a match up problem for Lamont.

Walker, Nunn, and Hayes would have been 4 year starters here. Flat out more talented than we were.

I believe the are all seniors too... so its not like young talent. These guys are rooted in the system talent... Oakland definitely had an advantage on the boards in that game... Lamont was working his ass off but lost position quite a bit and we were getting jobbed on the boards... Oakland seemed to brick shots that bounced directly to their own players... It was uncanny in the first half... I swear at one point they got four straight boards off their own bricked shots that went through WMU hands... WMU also went cold at the worst times...

And STILL they were within 3 points with 5 sec left... Tough loss but no shame in it. Someone has to tell the young guards they don't need to come down and just chuck up a 3 because its open... Seems like sometimes thats Flowers go to move and he bricks it nearly every time... same with Randall... Every time Randall touches the ball I clench my teeth waiting for either a bad shot or a turnover... Time and Conference play will prove that this team is special... Watch out come March...

Something that needs to be mentioned is how well the ENTIRE team plays defense... They are not easy to setup against... Sure they give up some bad boards but they are very active and make it tough on the opposing team to even move the ball around... They looked good in long stretches against Oakland... but man every guy on that Oakland team seemed to be able to drain the 3... hard to defend a big guy who can shoot the 3 ball... and not to mention Oakland has like 3 of those guys...

4 point game vs a team basically with P5 talent. Oakland coach kicked the boards in first half, he didn't get T'ed. The nine minute stretch killed us, Drake was already winded and Brandon is playing both Center/Forward fighting knee injury. Need Seth back for sure.
