My thoughts on the OM sanctions...
Bowl Ban
Best Case: No additional ban
Worst Case: 2 additional years
Actual: 1 additional year, players able to transfer without penalty
Verdict: Bad for Ole Miss
Scholarships
Best Case: Self-imposed stand
Worst Case: Additional double-digit reduction
Actual: Self-imposed stand
Verdict: Good for Ole Miss
Vacated Wins: Who cares
Show Causes: Those coaches aren't there anymore, who cares
Probation: Annoying, but who cares.
FWIW, Ole Miss will appeal the additional bowl ban. I think they have a decent chance at winning that appeal. Won't matter...players who want to transfer will and there's no way to stop that. Still not sold on a mass exodus of impact players transferring - think some benchwarmers and maybe 2-4 impact guys.
This biggest punishment came from 5 years of uncertainty killing multiple recruiting classes. Today's punishments weren't a "slap on the wrist" but they weren't nearly as crippling as some thought they'd be.
Hometown out. Go Tigers!

RE: My thoughts on the OM sanctions...
Only disagree on two points.
2nd year bowl ban: To me, who cares? With the playoff now, who cares about these 30 or so minor bowls anymore? A post-season reward for the players and boosters is all they are. Coaches leave before they are played. Potential draftees skip them. If they don't care, why should we?
Probation: So easy to get caught cheating on probation, NCAA has different rules for investigating schools on probation. Especially if other schools think turning Ole Miss in gets the Rebs hammered. Some of these boosters will not be deterred from paying players and their families.

Fair points. Regardless, I think the overall process has really hurt Ole Miss but today wasn't nearly as bad it could've been.

No doubt.
Getting 10 or so scholarships off in 3 consecutive years, like USC's punishment, just guts a program for years. 3 or 4 a year is very manageable.
