Will be interesting to see the effect this has on FSU next year. Could make a Huskie win on the road that much more likely, time will tell depending on who they hire.

A road win at FSU? Could it be?

(This is only funny if you watch the Curse of Oak Island on History Channel.)

Once again it's proving all along that in big time college athletics and hiring, it's all about the money.

Why else leave a program in a talent rich state and having won the NCAA title in 2013?

Only way NIU wins next year is if FSU hires Carey, right?

Just kidding cuz neither will happen.

RE: Jimbo fisher resigns from FSU to take the Texas A&M Job
At some point (and it varies for each individual) you have what you need and money no longer drives your career choices or it should not drive them.

In my last career move 28 years ago I turned down a higher paying job with a signing bonus for a lower paying one for what I will refer to as "quality of life" issues. I traded a career in the corporate world for a career with a non-profit. It worked out well as I stayed with the non-profit for 27 years. I exchanged an hour long commute for a ten minute commute in a community I preferred. I was able to earn and save enough to educate my daughters and prepare for what I hope will be a nice retirement. Losing the commute allowed me to spend more time with my daughters while they were growing up which I placed a very high value on.

If I were a coach making a million or more and I loved my job and community I would not trade that a 50% to 100% pay increase unless the new position was as attractive to me as my old one.

Hard to turn down 10 years for 75 Million with full control of the program. They basically gave him the keys to the city.

Not saying money couldn't have been a factor, but Jimbo was getting pressured to change some of his staff, the same staff that was good enough to win the NC just a few years ago. He defended his guys and gave the ultimate middle finger by leaving. Like Tennessee, boosters and those with the money/power are as reasonable as many on this board. Ughh

Always makes me wonder if some type of hammer is about to drop at Florida State. Could this be a Pete Carroll type move when he high tailed it out of USC?

any names floating re his replacement at FSU?

will it likely be some older high profile retread HC or a younger assistant?

It puzzles me why coaches like Solich and Bowden crash landed in MAC, a conference often dissed or dismissed here yet good enough for proven winners?

Fisher probably got tired of hearing that obnoxious tomahawk chop chant.

YES!

FSU had a very down year for them. Yesterday's game was a must win for them to even be bowl eligible. They did win but finished the reg. season 6-6. That is BAD for them I think. To go from NC to 6-6? wow.

Players and coaches are all competitors and they all want to compete
at the highest level. The SEC west is considered by many the toughest.
He gets to compete against his ole buddy Saban, plus 75 million will
probably take care of his great great grandchildren....Probably a bunch of people
sending in samples to ancestry.com to see if they are related to Jimbo.

Willie Taggart is the target per FootballScoop

He was at USF when they took us to the woodshed in 2016.

Saw Willie play in high school; he's a Sarasota area guy.
