Dukes win 87-82. Funny line..."a three-possession game really means 15 points now..."

Good win, Dukes. 1st half was about as good as I've seen a Dukes MBB team play in a long time.

Now, 4 on the road. The first 3 are winnable. Richmond lost by 29 at a mediocre Wake Forest bunch. This moves the Ticks to 1-7 on the season, btw.

RE: Charlotte @ JMU Hoops
Nice game for the Dukes- liked the intensity early on. Finished under 10 turnovers (9) a little too one on one at times but really like the way Phillips is playing. McLean is really the only one struggling a little- freshmen looked good (Lewis, Jacobs, and Banks).

Coach Rowe seems to have settled into a rotation- his starting 5 then Lewis as first guard off the bench, Jacobs as a big off the bench to mostly spell Phillips and Scissum as a big off the bench to mostly spell Snowden. I think Jones and Wilson just haven't adjusted to the college game yet (positioning/speed). Pinkard as well is a little raw, and Smith is there for depth if needed.

This team is a last second bucket and a screw job from being 5-4 and on a four game win streak.

They are starting to learn and come together.

I think good times are ahead.

Good win, team is improving rapidly. Mason robbery just slowed the appearance of turn around, they played well that game.

the Freshmen are gaining confidence. Lewis is fearless now and Banks hit a couple of threes. Phillips, as stated, is really coming on and Mosely is all CAA. Looks to be a fun ride as they get their act in gear. I know there will be some setbacks, but fun to watch at this point. I'm wondering if maybe the last two games had more favorable matchups with smaller presences in the paint.

RE: Charlotte @ JMU Hoops
Dukes played beautifully in the first half, racking up 49 points and got out to 20 point lead in second half. I think they got away from how they played to get that lead, of course. Much better team when they share the ball. They had a similar beautiful stretch in getting out to 15 point lead versus Radford. Shows their potential in any event.

Phillips mentioned in the post game radio interview that the players think they can win the CAA this year.

I watched some of the CAA's leading team, Towson, versus Manhattan and I was not impressed.

Saw Matt Brady on sideline in Maryland game versus Purdue. Terrapins, despite a bevy of highly rated recruits, do not impress me. Bino Ranson is also on the MD bench.

Well, I had hoped he'd work out for them but playing talent just doesn't always parlay to coaching talent. Maybe they should have brought Lutz back since CUSA isn't nearly as challenging as the A-10.

We see what happens when you lose to JMU MBB.

That Bridgewater HC has to be nervous these days.
