Ok SECbbs members...we got the conference picks.. let's see how..from all over the South, what our pre-season Top 25 would be like.
Everyone gets the one vote... we'll combine em all. Like the AP and Coaches polls, 25 points go to the #1 ranked team, 1 to the #25 ranked team, etc.
I'll start it now. As usual, I go mostly against the media hype. They look crazy now, but 7 of the last 8 years...my pre-season poll beats the media's come Jan. 4th.
1) Miami (FL) - too much talent in too weak a conference...adios Big East
2) Ohio State - returning champs will put up a fight to defend
3) Southern Cal -that's right...giving Pac-10 shocking props
4) Georgia - Mark Richt has talent overflowing
5) Kansas State - that's right. K-State finally wins Big XII
6) Virginia Tech - life will get tougher in 2004
7) Auburn - D is there..will offense show up?
8) NC State - Chuck Amato..FSU will be calling you soon
9) Wisconsin - Couple of mediocre seasons turn around this year
10) Texas - Is Chance Mock for real? Hogs will test him early
11) Michigan - Great offense...D's gotta step up for them
12) Oklahoma - Most overrated team in America.. where's the O? Paging Q. Griffin
13) Arkansas - 19 starters back + 9 wins last year + new passing game = UH OH
14) Florida - I might be underrating..I think Florida is dangerous this year
15) Maryland - Friedgen's got em fearing the turtle all over again
16) LSU - Saban reloads with talent..and Sat. nights in Red Stick are hellacious
17) Purdue - lost all 6 games last year by less than 7 pts...dangerous team with great offense
18) Virginia - Al Groh is turning UVa into a serious football school
19) UCLA - Next in the Pac-10 ladder.. USC's 3 steps above the others
20) Oklahoma State - Les Miles might be the best coach in Oklahoma...sorry Stoops
21) Arizona State - Dirk Koetter needs a running game..but air attack is superb
22) Texas A&M - Will go as far as Reggie McNeal carries them
23) Tennessee - Must depend on Cedric Houston and company
24) Central Florida - NOTE: There are now 4 solid football programs in Florida
25) Missouri - Brad Smith could make this a memorable year for Mizzou

I'll put one together when I have a little more time. I do like UGA at #4 though. :D

It's a tradition thing 10MAN, lol.
Unless the HOGS were really ranked up high, like in '99, I fill em in the 13 slot regardless.
However, given last year's 9 win season and all the starters coming back... I wouldn't be surprised if our boys didn't make some noise. Should we beat Tex-******, we'll be in the Top 25 FAST.
Still, given I put UA up high every year, I still beat the media. Shows how much they know

I know you do, cth, I was just messing witcha! I do look forward to your pre-season posts every year, and you're right Arkansas should make some noise this year, not if but WHEN y'all beat Texarse.
I don't see Ark finishing as high as 13, but they should finish ranked. I don't see them making another SEC West run either, for some reason. Maybe because of how bad they got beat in Atlanta, and then Nashville to finish off the season, I don't know. Prove me wrong, Hogs!

The way I see it is this...
in 2001, UGA got sent to the Music City Bowl and let a weak BC team beat em, mostly cause the Dawgs weren't pumped for the game. Next year, they win the conference.
in 2002, Arkansas got sent to the MC Bowl and let a weak Minnesota team beat em, also cause the Hogs weren't pumped for the game. Let history PLEASE repeat itself

IMO the key to the Hogs repeating is if they can go 2-0 in that two week stretch vs. Auburn and Florida. If they sweep, I could see them repeating.

Well, using that logic, cth, you would certainly win the title should history repeat itself....good luck!
One thing I know.....CAN WE, THE SEC, PLEASE NOT BE AFFILIATED WITH THE MUSIC CITY BOWL ANYMORE? WE ARE DOOMED IN THAT BOWL!!!!
What is is now? 0-6, or something like that? UK lost to Syracuse, Bama lost to VaTech, OM to WVa, UGA to BC, Ark to Minn.....I'm forgetting somebody I think.
Regardless, we need to ditch that bowl!!!!

USF will be a better program way before UCF will. USF should have been in a bowl last year(9-2) and they did lose some people this year but they have a great coach and a great recruiting ground. I would not be surprised if they beat Bama this year.
