App State North Endzone Project
Taken from a story in thecWatauga Democratic.

ASU's board of trustees will meet in December to review plans for the North End Zone project at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

The new facility, a mixed use development with private partners, would replace the former Owens Field House along the north endzone of the football field with a three-story, 88,000-square-foot building including athletic facilities, training and weight rooms, coaches’ offices, 1,000 to 1,200 club seats, dining and hospital and medical offices, he said.

Housing is no longer a planned component of the project, with Forte noting that housing would be a separate, standalone project.

Appalachian Regional Healthcare System could partner to operate medical facilities at the building. SWF ASU LLC — in which local businessman Tommy Sofield is one of three partners — last year expressed interest as a potential private developer for the project and is still involved..

The university will move forward with demolishing the old field house after receiving project approval, he noted.

Currently main demand is more box/club/luxury seating.

We'll see what eventually happens. But we currently only max out capacity when a ACC school comes to Boone. ECU may be close to that as well and it will depend on future home opponents. But conf games rarely have been above 30k I believe.

As a conference we have got to start traveling better. Of course this will happen with stability over numerous years as we all gain a history, and familiarity with each other.

If each team traveled with an average of 2000, that would be nice. And you'd outnumber GaSt fans in their building. 03-nutkick

Agree. You'd be amazed how many of our fans over on Yosef's Cabin don't think we need to add any seats.

Anything over 30k is maxed out for a stadium that seats 25k. Our top ten most attended games range from 30k to 35k. Two of these ten are ACC teams. We had over 30K for Coastal this year.

We have Elon and Charlotte at home in the next few years. Both only a few hours away. Elon drew 31k in 2010. I expect both to draw similar numbers when they visit. UNC, ECU, and rumors of NC State to boot.

We need more seats.

This and expenses will be the driving force for geographical realignment for SB and CUSA. I would except to see this come to fruition in the next 5 to 10 years.

What's worse than adding just 1,000, is that it will eliminate the use of just over 2,000 temporary seats, unless temp seats are relocated to the south end zone, which has never been mentioned.

More than likely, must of those 1,000 club seats that are added will really just be a reshuffling of the deck. They will not hold all new season ticket holders, mostly relocated from other areas in the stadium. That great and all, but if there is no demand for additional season tickets, we are just spreading ourselves thin, all while having an overcrowded student section.

RE: App State North Endzone Project
I'd like to see us with a plan to expand permanent seating capacity to 30,000 give or take a little. This could be done in phases, with the North End Zone being phase one. I hope that this North EZ project is designed so that more seats could be added, maybe below the 1000 to 1200 club seats. The next phase could be filling the South End Zone so it is brought closer to the field and adding permanent seats to part of the hill. Another thought is that once the track is relocated, maybe add 2 or 3 rows of seats behind the team on the West side, maybe between the 35's. This "Coaches Club" seating area would give one the chance to be close to the action and players. You see this done in a lot of NFL Stadiums. As demand increases, then the South EZ permanent seating could be increased later as well.

I would hope you have a South End Zone. I can't imagine playing a game with only one end zone. That would be strange.
