Can we get a dedicated basketball forum?
I would suggest several boards. One for Mens basketball and another for all sports except Mens basketball and Football. And unrelated uab crap. (non sport specific)
This board could convert to Football or maybe open a new football only board.
This would allow fans of one sport not to have to wade thru posts of other sports.
If not, why not?

RE: Can we get a dedicated basketball forum?
UAB needs as many fans as possible across all sports. Why limit your support to one sport? We should encourage anyone that has an interest/affiliation with UAB athletics to be engaged with ALL of UAB athletics.
Growing support in both primary sports will help get us in a better conference. If you're historically only a UAB basketball fan or only a UAB football fan, your support of the other sport is a great place to start for us growing the fan base. I think splitting into basketball only and football only boards is counter-productive.

It seems there are 6 moderators or more. Its not like each spends every waking moment policing the board.

Forcing fans who only want to read stuff related to one sport might discourage participation altogether.
Many other schools have multiple forums.

Not necessary. Not efficient.
I like getting a variety of everything by visiting one forum. It's good for one sport fans to get headlines of both. It may expand their interest.

While we are suggesting new forums - can we give BNBF his own Stadium Certificates forum?

I'm not going to become a football or women's softball fan no matter how much its force fed on me.
I understand why adding football was important way back when but it didn't help in the long run for basketball because we are stuck in this terrible conference and it seems basketball support is dwindling for football.

I would suggest that basketball attendance is down because of poor quality of play vs poor opponents, and has nothing to do with football.
"Hey lets go watch the Blazers play frustratingly bad basketball against something called a Lamoyne-Owen!" doesnt exactly encourage people to go to games.
I would love to find out how many season ticket holders are missing the home games we've played, because that has to be a 4 digit number for every single home game so far. The product is so bad that over a thousand season ticket holders per game, people who have paid for their tickets, are going "Yeah, let's stay home and catch up on laundry instead"

Part of that is we've never properly invested in football until now. The best way to help basketball is to get in a better conference where we can consistently have a legitimate chance at an at large bid each year without having to depend on a 3 day spurt in a conference tournament.
In today's college athletics landscape, what is the best way to get into a better conference? Successful football. So if you're thinking long-term, turning UAB football into the Boise St of the south is the ticket out of CUSA and thus to a more successful basketball conference as well.

The Gene Bartow Memorial Forum is already divided into "Announcements" "Important" and "Normal". What would be the problem with dividing it up a little differently - like "Normal FB" and "Normal BB" and perhaps "Normal other". The Recruiting Forum might be similarly divided as well.

My wife and I. You nailed it. We live an hour south of town, work another half hour south of that. It is hard to find the motivation to make a 7:00 tip on a Thursday night to see bad basketball against bad opponents.

Would you like it if I posted play by play of every off sport that nobody cares about?
Its just a logical thing to do. We already have a "smack" board and a "media" board or something like that. We have a recruiting board.
A basketball only board would be an upgrade.
But it seems many fans want to inconvenience basketball only fans over making the board more usable.

If you posted something that doesn't interest me, I don't read it. Nobody makes me click the link. I probably only read a third of the stuff that gets posted. On the other hand, making me go to two separate places to read about football and basketball inconveniences me. And I imagine I am in the majority (being a fan of not just basketball), so your idea is an inconvenience to more people.

Force fed? Gee, if the topic regards softball, you can try not opening that thread. This really isn't difficult. In fact, if you accidentally open a thread that you don't want to read, hitting the back button on your browser isn't terribly difficult either.
As to football, if we did not have it we'd be playing those basketball powerhouses in the Sun Belt, if they'd let us in with no football.
