Tim Floyd retires
It is being reported by Felix Chavez of the El Paso Times that Tim Floyd announced he is retiring after UTEP's loss to Lamar tonight. I just hope it is true and not that Floyd is throwing tantrum and doesn't follow through come tomorrow.

If he lost to Lamar, he SHOULD retire. 03-lmfao

It is now being widely reported on all local media. How many schools have had their football and basketball coaches walk away in the same year?

How about a moderator consolidating the Floyd threads.

UTEP has an introductory press conference for the new AD, impressive man imo, and that night Floyd retires. Coincidence?

Jim Senter says he wants a football coach that creates excitement, scores points and is a great recruiter. The exact opposite of our former coach.

For basketball, he has time to find the right coach. For now just appoint an interim from among the assistants, 3 of which have been head coaches in the past.

Players said Floyd told them he was retiring because of health issues.

Looks like both were past due to leave, this is good news for UTEP...

Wow. Must be health related or I would think he finishes out the season and then retires.

RE: Tim Floyd retires
Thank God

The 8 year nightmare is over. Tim Floyd is the worst thing that has ever happened to UTEP baskteball ever.

I saw the writing on the wall in one of the very first games he lost vs. Pacific in what was called back then a "bracket buster" game.

Since then I have been openly against him on this and other forum and have been banned repeatedly for it.

I predicted 8 long years ago that Tim Floyd would never win a CUSA championship and would never take UTEP to the big dance.

Sadly, I was right.

Good riddance you scumbag.

And the AD too.

New AD, football and basketball coaches. Hopefully, this will be a new era for UTEP athletics. I've always believed UTEP has so much potential, it has many advantages most G5 schools lack and the foundation is there with a fanbase that has shown support before. It is one of those rare G5's that can average 40k/10k on both revenue sports. I know baseball was not a priority when Stull was the AD, maybe Senter will reverse that.
