You can’t honestly believe the Funbelt is even remotely competitive in Football compared to 6 to 10 years ago. The talent level is significantly down.

Now basketball and baseball are a different story. The Sunbelt has historically been a basketball conference.

Last year was probably the best year the SBC has ever had even with big bad ULL being mediocre.

It was down this year, but I’d say it’s trending up compared to ten years ago.

I always use Southwest Louisiana when I talk about them. Old habits and all.

The Sun Belt is far better than it was 6 to 10 years ago in general, despite this being a down year for a lot of the conference.

I think many of us(maybe its just me) don't really understand why the change of ULL to LA and why it's so offensive. Growing up I've always know you guys as Louisiana Lafayette, Cajuns, or ULL and never really heard of the change other then on this board. So what is the reason?

I think many of us(maybe its just me) don't really understand why the change of ULL to LA and why it's so offensive. Growing up I've always know you guys as Louisiana Lafayette, Cajuns, or ULL and never really heard of the change other then on this board. So what is the reason?

The only thing that was offensive about it was the attitude of the Cajun posters who were militant about it. Truth is, it is better for the Sun Belt for them to be referred to as Louisiana . . . but most fan bases don't cotton to being bitched at about their ever-changing name.

Not to mention the elevation change as Hud crosses the Eastern Continental Divide. They probably will have to pack oxygen tanks to survive the high altitude as well.
