+1 Even if it is the new guy talking with them both + Hambone to get their views on playing at Rice and what they think the problems have been on both sides of the ball.

Appreciate the votes of confidence.

I'll leave the football to RU and NO... I think I'd rather talk to them about how we're missing the students and Med Center... and all of the focus in the trillions of dollars in healthcare on 'wellness' which is directly related to athletics and the concerns/interest in families on things like concussions and impact injuries.

For the students, bringing them onto the field is great... but a lot of what that does is merely reinforce the idea that our athletes do things they can't hope to do. I think it would be at least as valuable to go into a classroom of bio-engineers and robotics and talk about how the techniques linemen use are designed to use physics to mitigate physical disadvantages or how combination routes use geometry to stress a defense

There is a lot of science to football, but we don't talk about it this way because LOTS of players and fans (generally not Rice players or fans) wouldn't understand it in those terms.

Hate to bring it back this way, but McKinsey talked about us being highly proactive and leading the conversations... If RU were involved with the team, he'd be a great representative on the various competition committees that look at things like, how to reduce injuries on kick-offs without sacrificing the integrity of the game.
