My memory is fading but I wanted to say that Corey Jackson stepped on the baseline.

It may have happened twice, but that scenario fits the 1985 NCAA game when Ponder dribbled it off his foot out of bounds, and Coach Bartow chased the refs off the court yelling he was fouled.

Mitchell got hip checked by Andre Turner and caused him to dribble off his foot near the end of the 1st half. Vincent Askew (IIRC) hit Ponder across the arms and knocking him to the floor on the final shot in OT, prompting coach to chase the referees.

I know its early in the season and neither team is very good right now but I would still think it will draw over 5000 just because I don't think we have ever not had well over that figure for Memphis.

So, I would take the OVER for $100 if anyone wants to wager.

And wont Memphis bring at least 500 or so fans anyway?

I expect they will be bribing students to come with free food & stuff so the student section should have a decent showing.
Id like to see 7000-8000+ anyway. Because we need the crowd support.

RE: The Memphis And UAB Rivalry (Re-Post)
I'd love to see 7k plus, but I doubt it will happen. Memphis isn't what it usually is, and few of the current Memphis students have any reason to get amped up about playing UAB or to consider it a rivalry game. A lot of the Memphis fans are unhappy with Tubby Smith, as well.

We don't normally put many butts into seats until after all the bowl games are over. That's dumb, but it's still the history.

It's Memphis and played at Bartow, so there will be a lot of Blazer fans excited about it, but I doubt it goes over 5k or so.

UAB's attendance issues are not UAB's along. I am in DC and decided to go to a Georgetown game. They are undefeated and it is Patrick Ewing first year as coach. They are playing Maine, not a marquee game. There might be 3000 people here.

Memphis won't bring many if any. There is very little interest in basketball. And I imagine their diehards are traveling to Tampa for the AAC championship Saturday.

Yes, there are a lot of reasons to not attend a basketball game. UAB missed an opportunity to maybe try to get some fannies in the seats for Memphis.

A black Friday or Cyber Monday deal with cheap tickets couldn't have hurt. What they did promote was stupid. $20-25 seats. Wow, hard to pass up.

But I still think there will be more than 4000 people there. Which probably means at least 5500 on the official attendance.

I noticed UAT has several games on groupon for cheap.

Nick has earned a dozen more games to get up to speed. Besides, putting it all on scootie might be too much.

Was it at the Capital One Center (Formerly Verizon) or McDonough? The on-campus venue is a whole lot smaller but a whole lot cooler.

UAB has a very good opportunity to win Thursday against the Tigers. Memphis has the weakest team I can recall in at least 18 years.

Tubby indicated he would like to extend the series and I think it is a good idea. https://247sports.com/college/memphis/Bo...-111337942

They will. Memphis is not very good this year (weakest Memphis team in last 20 years), UAB by 12 or more.

Next year they may not play, but both are in a tournament together

I doubt Memphis will bring more than 100 fans, if that many. Many are going to Orlando for the AAC football championship game, biggest thing going in Memphis right now.

RE: The Memphis And UAB Rivalry (Re-Post)
The most memorable game I remember of the entire series was UAB at Memphis on January 16th, 1993. Stanley Jackson and Willie Chapman were Seniors. Robert Shannon, Carter Long, Clarence Thrash, Reginald Allen, Frank Haywood, and George Wilkerson were Juniors. Corey Jackson was the lone Sophomore. Memphis' Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway was a Junior. UAB beat Memphis that day, 50-47 at the Pyramid. 18,000 Memphis Fans were stunned. Before that game, an hour before the game, I was walking from my car to the Pyramid. A bus turned into the parking lot, stopped next to me and the door opened. Coach Bartow was standing inside the door. He said "Get in!"
I stepped up and in and was facing the team, standing tall with my head held high. I looked at all of them to show them all that I had absolute confidence in them that they were going to go in there and beat Memphis that day. I said, loudly, "Ya'll ready to work up a sweat?" They all said "Yep". I saw no fear in their eyes. Just before the game started, in the locker room, Assistant Coach Joe Evans told the team to "Go out there and give them Forty Minutes of Hell". They did and they won. That was one of Coach Bartow's most gratifying wins. He coached one hell of a good game that day. What a strategist.

I hope they continue to play. But, they will probably want something more than a home & home. Maybe 2 in Memphis, 1 in Bartow and 1 at BJCC or something like that. Like Pearl wanted & got.
Memphis wouldn't get half the gate at BJCC though.

I have to wonder how long Tubby is going to coach because he hasn't really been embraced by the fans and he seems to have much lower expectations than they do.
