Simple. ECU, for example, was crushed by JMU in its first game of the season. Therefore eastern NC fell under the dominion of JMU. They have gone undefeated all season so no one has seized their spoils. If JMU loses to Stony Brook this week, we fall under the rule of Stony Brook.

The map may or may not be a dumb idea, but the premise is simple.
