When I saw the articles last week, I figured either the comments were distorted or we had a political general. This article explains how the comments of the general in charge of nuclear weapons were distorted by the media. What he said was not at all controversial.

I do think the "law of proportionality" he mentions needs some reconsideration. Response to unprovoked attacks should be disproportional to discourage other such attacks.

The media distorting this surprises no one that questions the motives of said media, for this and many other things.

I have a healthy dose of skepticism for whatever they print/say and consider the team they are rooting for before I take anything as the gospel truth.
