Minnesota is losing a young QB it seems. According to 24/7 Sports we (and just about the rest of the MAC) offered him.

The irony in telling me to get a life when you have 4x as many posts is pretty funny.

Oh ****, he makes 100 more posts than you a year, he really needs to get a life. Gtfo chip.

Devil, you're making me feel special...and so unproductive. Lol.

This does highlight the fact that he makes a lot of posts that are NOT on the CMU board (Scout pay site). I bet he writes daily essays on that board. How many hours a day are spent thinking about and writing about CMU? Sad.

Not sure where people get the idea you have to pay to use that website. I've been on it for probably 7 years or so and never paid.

You guys had your 1 winning season in the past 20+, move along and enjoy the 3 years remaining in your football program. Should have moved down to FCS years ago.

Back to the topic...

Alex Malzone is also transferring out of Michigan. Has never thrown a pass there in an actual game, so it's hard to know much about him. Was 4* out of high school and had mostly MAC/low P5 offers. The attractive part is that he would be eligible immediately and have two years remaining.

What say you, folks? Sounds like he's a "pocket passer", and the way Creighton has been recruiting has gone away from that. I think I'm with ETough in that I want to see a competition between Glass/Stiebeling/Grissom, but if Malzone comes calling, do you say no?

NO, our guys earned the right to compete for the job, and they're OUR guys. Malzone couldn't beat out Speight, O'Korn, or Morris.....enough said. Our last 4* Michigan transfer couldn't even make the 2 deep. (Yeah, I'm not a big Michigan fan as you can tell, haha)

I would also add Hutchinson to our QB competition. May have the best arm of the 4.

Glass/Stiebeling/Grissom/Hutchinson ..............may the best man win! Thrown into a difficult situation against BG, Stiebeling proved he's at least a capable backup as well. I think our coaches are very comfortable with these 4.

Dear EagleTough,
I agree with you. If, one brings in a eligible graduate, especially at the quarterback position, what signal are you sending to the players at that position? What one generally gets from that, is the players that were recruited, transfer. They (graduate transfer) are only here for a year. What does that do for future development of the players that were recruited? I just don't like the idea.

RE: Wilton Speight? More like Wilton Debate? AMIRITE?
To me, it would signal that the guys we have aren't ready right now. I get the sense, especially from this board, that this isn't the case, so I'm not expecting a transfer. I liked enough of what I saw from Stiebeling that I wouldn't be terrified if he was our week 1 starter (especially with another whole offseason of work). If any of the other guys beat him out, then we shouldn't be worried, either. Our offense should lean on Eriksen/Vann, the now-experienced OL, and the run-pass option that we know Creighton has wanted since his first season here.

But it's the offseason (silly season), so there is always a discussion to be had. Especially on this board.

Why is Malzone immediately eligible? Seems like he would have to sit for a year. That is unless he goes to the GLIAC, which is probably where he belongs.

He's graduating. Gives him the ability to play immediately in the fall.

I'd rather have Speight than Malzone. Speight has actually thrown a pass in the last couple of seasons.

Next season is definitely a year that they can pivot into the run option team Creighton might want it to be if they can't land the grad transfer they want.

Sorry Dan, but we're not even going to try to land any of these grad transfers. If they could somehow land a stud Juco dual-threat with 2 years of eligibility they might, but those odds are probably next to nothing.

We'll be rolling with Glass/Stiebeling/Grissom/Hutchinson....... for better or worse.

CMU sucks!
Now that's the hard hitting, intelligent, and well thought out opinion I come to cherish about this site! Seriously, this place is becoming the argument AGAINST a college education. Do BETTER.

Ok..Bob sucks! Just kidding Bob and I was joking about CMU too lol
I know Luckey, but we shouldn't egg on people who actually think CMU sucks, it makes you and I look bad. You are one of the reasonable, passionate posters who I enjoy reading because you don't have cookie cutter opinions.

Even though this thread is pretty much a big nothing burger for EMU fans, a little more detail for how Speight plans to handle his transfer.

Couple more UofM players who will join the market of eligible transfers.

Drake Harris, if healthy, could come to EMU as a starting receiver.

I think EMU landing an attractive grad transfer would really give the program some legitimacy. If we can land a good player who is going to play it shows that players would WANT to play here. Speight. Malzone, Harris, or otherwise.
