Source? All I'm seeing is "FootballScoop is reporting". No offense, but they have been a joke and wrong during this entire process. Not saying you're wrong, but I am taking this with a grain of salt until either Sean Lewis or Joel Nielsen comments.

Several sources are reporting it. Here is one from Yahoo Sports:

Again, grain of salt. All Pete Thamel did was tweet, "Source:".... and that is supposed to be credible? Is it me or has journalism sunk to an ultimate low in this social media culture. For all we know his source is FootballScoop, whose source could be Johnny at the local watering hole. Until Joel Nielsen or Sean Lewis say something, or a source is actually named, I would be careful trusting any media outlet.

Finally, looks like Allen Moff of the Record Courier is confirming. BTW, completely agree regarding the buffoonery of football scoop... a twenty-something “journalist” with intern level connections at the National Football Foundation.

Matt Johnson is on the staff at Syracuse too. Think he brings him with him as a QB coach or something? That might be hard for BG fans to stomach.

Who is now going to say this was a laughingstock of a coaching search? Who is now disappointed with the outcome and the hire? And will any of you be big enough to say this turned out ok?

I am more talking about the people that acted like because Joel was being deliberate and taking his time this was a debacle. The folks who acted as if we had spoken to 20 candidates who had said no. The truth is nobody knows who was contacted and offered. As far as any of us know for certain, we offered 1 guy and he said yes.

I love the hire. In 4-5 years I might be begging for the AD to fire Coach Lewis, but today I am pleased. Joel did well and all the contrarians should be big enough to say so.

I want to see watchable football and I think this man can do it - I would love to see if he can develop Dustin Crum to be anywhere near what BG had

You would be right even if you did not like the hire. Who knows at this stage. At Ohio St. speed might matter a little more because missing out on one recruiting class could set you behind for a year or two but at Kent that is a very minor issue. Most of the recruiting classes are near the bottom of the MAC anyway. How you coach them up is 10 times more important. Joel missed on the last coach so he needs to be right this time. Speed did not matter.

RE: Coaching Candidates
Sounds like a great selection. Of course, only time will tell. He sounds like they kind of guy who wants to be a head coach for a Power 5 team as soon as possible and will try hard to win and win often as soon as possible. There is only one other option for a mid-major and I doubt there was anyone out there like a Frank Solich or a Bobby Bowden.

If Dino doesn't upgrade him... I'd say so

RE: Coaching Candidates
Remember you guys are now in the Baylor\Briles cult. (In a good way). Most of the hires will come from the Briles/Babers tree.

Among GA's one you want is Mackay MacPherson from Cuse if available.
