Saw Conner and thoughts
No surprise he a TALL!!!!!!. Will need a lot of work and a red shirt year would do wonders. Tigers cannot afford that unless recruiting steps up. Has potential to be a good player with a nice touch. Feet not that good but his wing span will help cover that up. If he plays beside a strong PF he can be very productive

Need a lot of bulk and strength. That is why a RS year is important.

Conner was born in June of '99, so by the time next season starts he will be 19 years, 5 months old. He isn't redshirting.

Then he will be benchwarming.

RE: Saw Conner and thoughts
He look fine. He caused issues in the first quarter. At least he can set a screen.

Here is the stream. If anyone else is interested.

Still a four year player, but he'll probably get 10 minutes a game as a freshman. But he's going to be eventually be good for us. And he's moving better than he did a year ago, so he's progressing.

Better stream of him tonight against Ayo's team.

Bol Bol is a monster in this one. Didn't look that good against East.

I said this from the jump and got killed by ppl on here for suggesting it. He won't be an immediate contributor which is why the redshirt shouldn't be a big deal. It would be what's best for him and our program.

Well, this aint' football and players very rarely take a redshirt in basketball unless its injury related. He won't be sitting out to "develop".

I wasn't saying that he would or wouldn't. Just saying what would be best for him and the program. That would be to redshirt.

No, but big guys (7' ish) are rarely ready in their first year. see Azab as an example. There are certainly exceptions, but many many programs recruit tall guys and try to develop them.

I don't expect Conner to contribute much if anything his first year, he has to get a LOT stronger to be effective.

Lets' get something straight--Azab was a super duper hail mary for last year's team after Tubby slept all summer long.

He was literally being recruited by no one. He averaged 8 ppg in HIGH SCHOOL. The end result is they have a guy that has about a 10% chance of being productive by the end of his 4th year, but since Memphis apparently doesn't seem concerned about filling out all scholarships, he won't get pushed out.

I just can't see any negative to him redshirting, not one. Again, I know it won't happen.

The negative is in the post above...

If he doesn't develop it just an extra year on scholly...

And looking at our squad right now we will likely need him.

It must seriously suck to play 18 with Tubby. I bet he takes a nap in the cart between every hole.

I do not think Tubby will have the luxury of redshirting Conner. It will be an all hands on deck situation for Tubby next year.
