Nice reward but at the same time I would’ve liked to have seen UAB vs Troy in New Orleans or vs Memphis in Birmingham. Kinda got the ODU treatment from the aspect first bowl game in forever (or ever in ODU’s case) and then gets shipped to the Bahamas where very few fans can partake.

I'm sorry this happened to you guys. I honestly think this was the wrong move by CUSA. UAB has an upward trajectory right now and I think you would have traveled well. I think Marshall should have been sent to the Bahama's Bowl because we are on a downward spiral and our fans are not going to travel anyways. .

Either way, I will be rooting for the Blazers!

FIU should go to Bahamas. Charter a boat and sail there, it's that close!

I am shocked that Marshall isn't the Bahamas Bowl rep this year. This seems like the perfect year to have shipped us there, and UAB should have been given the opportunity to build upon what they have done this year with a closer to home bowl opportunity.

The fans are excited for the football team to be able to go. They deserve it.

Most of the fans are angry that the administration decided to give itself a beach trip at the expense of the fans. Ray Watts doesn't deserve to go to the Bahamas. Yet he'll be the first to book this trip on University money. 3 years after he shut the program down.

It is highly improbable that the band and most of the spirit teams get to go.

Why in the world is Ray Watts still there? Talk about having no shame.

UAB players and coaches deserve a trip to the Bahamas after all they've been though the last few years.

I was told the UAB staff/AD told the players they could choose whichever bowl they wanted and they asked for the Bahamas Bowl. Take it for what its worth.

It's what the team wanted. I'm disappointed I won't be able to pull it off, but I'll cheer from my armchair.

If that’s what the team wanted then congrats to/for them. Sucks for the fans but at least the players get what they wanted (not being sarcastic). First thought was when USM went to Hawaii in 2011...players (and fans) were hoping/wanting Heart of Dallas bowl vs Penn St but Fedora wanted Hawaii. I won’t derail this thread with details/rumors/speculation on that fiasco. Congrats Blazers!

What a season! So happy for the players and coaches to get rewarded like this. A few of us will travel, but the game is on ESPN, so no issues watching the game for fans staying home.
For everyone that supported our return, whether through social media or financially, thank you!

If I was a player and Bahamas was there for the taking, I'd want to go. You could go bowling somewhere and be holed up in some convention hotel or you could go swim with the Dolphins and hang out at Atlantis. That's not a hard decision. I can't blame them. My trainer is a former MT player who played in the Bahamas Bowl back in 2015 and he still talks about it. He said that was by far the best bowl experience he was involved in. Better than Hawaii and the Armed Forces bowl. So I hope UAB's players have a great time there. Good luck and go beat Ohio.

Absolutely. Clearly the conference gave UAB first choice (even before the conference champ has been determined).

Good for them. Congrat's and enjoy!

UAB had third choice which means they had an idea where UNT and FAU are going. There was conversation. They went ahead and announced to get a jump on fan's passports.
