RE: Smaug's $0.02
8-4 seems about right for this team. We were a few plays away from losing a couple at home and a few plays away from beating ball state, north Texas, and Charlotte. The only team that blew us out was Florida. Phenomenal year. Never thought I'd see the day that uab was consistently good at football.

Lisa's best catch was the incompleted one out of bounds. I had to clap for him on that one even though it didn't count.

When Ubosi makes a play, i definitely want to see him with more touches. i think its his habit of dropping that ball that has limited his chances this year

RE: Smaug's $0.02
Smaug I miss it every time I don't see you on Monday morning. Glad you were there this week.

I did a little checking on Bahamas flights about $600 round trip out of Reagan National, so I'm guessing from Bham or ATL will be cheaper. The problem will be hotel cost I'm afraid

Anyway as long as its not Hawaii I'm planning to go.

This game was more a relief than anything because I was afraid they would stub their toe like the Charlotte game.

The best part about this year was we won close games. There were 3 or 4 we would have blown in previous years. That is coaching IMHO

While Alabama fans paid money for the gold seats years ago at Legion Field, they are basically worthless now unless Alabama plays in the Birmingham Bowl.

Those Stadium Certificates are LEGALLY valid for ANY football games played at Legion Field forever. As noted in a news article cited in another thread, no charge above a ticket's face value can be LEGALLY made for any seat covered by those certificates.

There are 2,000 seats in sec 10 & 11 in the west stand, 2,000 seats in the corresponding seats in the east stands and the 1,000+ "gold seats" LEGALLY covered by the Certificates IN PERPETUITY. Ignoring the law is something Alabamians have done whenever convenience provided the cover, but that does not make it legal.

How does it feel to feel passion about something and realize that you are the only person in the world that has that passion.

How does it feel to be constantly told that LEGAL is meaningless when it is inconvenient, and we wish to ignore it because we can get away with it? If UAB is indeed selling tickets in violation of the law because no one cares, is that supposed to be a good excuse and a good practice for a state university? I want to see UAB playing in a new and modern stadium, but as long as we must use Legion Field, we are bound by legal contracts the city made with investors in the past when we rent it.

Rumor is that it is the Bahamas Bowl which would rule out quite a few fans going. Still good though if true.

UAB vs Ohio on Dec 22nd.

You're right. Hopefully, he gets that worked out, because he's a big, strong guy, runs good routes, and has speed.

I like you was torn as I left the stadium but it was more towards actually leaving the stadium. I didn't really want to pack up the tailgate, I wanted to sit there for a couple of hrs more to bask in the moment when normally, the only reason I don't want to pack up is that I'm depressed, mad or too tired/achy from the day. After all these yrs, this is a strange & alien feeling to me of not wanting to leave LF & not sure if I need to seek counseling or not.

Just to mention it, I know of some who were in town for the game & this was their first game of the season to attend a game.

Clark's wife also mentioned that their whole family was there (which included graduates of our sister school)

Or perhaps you misunderstand what you read? I highly doubt UAB is illegally selling tickets, especially with the board we have in place.

I know a poster on BlazerTalk stated that he had bought season tickets in the Gold seats and included a photo of said Gold seats in his post. That leaves little room for interpretation or misunderstanding. It is possible that a student clerk sold such tickets not knowing the circumstances surrounding those seats, but ignorance of the law is not a legal defense for the clerk or for the school.

The (desired) demolition of Legion Field is the only way the Certificate contracts can be terminated.

Dude. Stop highjacking this thread over something you and only you (not even the long dead certificate holders) care about. Start your own.

The original owners are or may be dead, but the 1600 present owners of them still have those perpetual contracts with the city and thereby with UAB as its tenant. Like I said, the certificates only die when Legion Field is demolished.

I remember lingering in the stands after the Marshall game in 2014. I knew it was over. To be here today is beyond surreal.

And aside from #thereturn, I got to see two games in my new home state. Not bad at all!

And Smaug—hard to believe you’re 7-0 in games attended, right? Hell, we’ve only won 7 games two other times this century!

For a bunch of us that sat through the Wednesday night monsoon, the chip shot blocked FG vs FAU, the Smoo Hail Mary, and numerous other calamities too painful to recall, we deserve this season.
