Congrats to C-USA
Ten bowl eligible teams. This conference is improving despite lack of leadership from the top. Great job, everyone!

UAB deserves a lot of kudos for doing so well in their return. They join UNT in winning all their home games.

And joined UNT and Kentucky in giving us three home losses. Being 5-1 on the road saved us.

A couple of twitter accounts have said Lambert will be back next season. If so, Charlotte will be bad in 2018 and even worse in 2019.

I'd rather have 6 bowl eligible teams and a few with double digit wins. I think we proved we are closer to equally average than having a couple elite teams. Will never get a NY6 game at this pace.

I think ten teams bowl eligible is nice, but it just means parity among the members... not that we’ve improved as a conference. 4/10 are basically .500 teams. My old school continues to blow - which helps others get bowl eligible though.

Not until we’re getting poll respect do I say the conference is showing signs of vast improvement. 3/7 bowl bound teams in the American are ranked in the AP & Coaches polls. We have no one ranked in any of the three polls, and a team only receiving votes in one and they’re behind Troy of the Sun Belt (those could change with today’s new polls).

Might should have taken another stats class at Charlotte...10 out of 14 schools cannot be .500 or better by parity. It means more ooc wins for one factor. Our tide line has risen collectively (save the bottom four).

FFS, I like the man, but we desperately need a change at multiple levels if we are going to get rid of the suck. Congrats to the rest of CUSA though, well done.

Yes and no. First everyone but us has an FCS win in there (only because we didn't need to schedule one this year). And both divisions had 2 teams that lost almost all of their conference games to bowl eligible teams. Add in another OOC win to a godawful G5 (No marquee wins over good G5 or P5, maybe MT over Syracuse) and there's 4 wins. Then the parity was only required to offer 2 more wins to get a ton of 6 win teams, which we have. So it isn't inaccurate to say parity is the reason for the bowl eligible teams without the conference being any better. If we had a few more P5 wins or beat some of the AAC teams like SMU, UCF and Navy etc, I would say we were better as a conference. I don't think the wins over Tulane or Baylor move the needle much.

I think FAU is good and North Texas is close to being good, not quite sure yet. The rest are average to bad. I have to say UAB's record is impressive for their new beginning indeed. Some of us don't deserve a bowl game, including the Toppers.

The division heads will always be good teams, unless one of those 5-6 lucky bastard teams rears it's head like UNT in the Sunbelt that one year. Especially when they're undefeated in conference/division play.

So I guess the Big 12, SEC and the PAC12 haven't improved under your standard. They have parity that makes them average with 8, 9 and 10 bowl eligible teams? Just when you had what 5 teams only last year.
Go win the bowl games and show them.

RE: Congrats to C-USA
I thought last year we pulled the bottom up. I think this year we pulled the middle-bottom up. FAU and UNT have good chances to continue, and improve on their level of play next year, IF they hold onto their coaches.

FAU - we expected results from Kiffin, but wow! Please find a donor to throw money at them.
FAI - ditto Davis. Nice!
WKU - and some transitions stumble. Would expect a few moves on the staff. Who replaces White?
MTU - injuries destroyed high expectations and now Stockstill is on the hotseat for 2018?
Marshall - recovered from the crash of 2016, but now what? Defense is solid. Offense is anemic.
ODU - freshmen QBs are painful. We know that pain all too well.
Charlotte - Keep grinding. Did you take a step back to take another forward, or are you spinning?

UTSA - close. Just another pinch of talent and luck.
UNT - Fine, Guyton, and now Nic Smith are all coming back. You have a chance to make big noise next year. You have top25 potential.
UAB - exceeded expectations. If you hold onto your coach, you can build on this.
La Tech - I assume J'Mar will have competition come Spring? Was it him or the lack of talent around him? Similar to Marshall without the great defense. Hope both programs were redshirting offensive talent.
Rice - Bailiff played a lot of youth this year. Does he have any support left?
UTEP - So who does Price like? Any rumors?

USM - we need a more accurate QB. We're losing Ito and Staggers, but Korey Robertson returns. The defense has a good chance to reload. Plenty of reasons for optimism.

Our bowl numbers prove we had a big middle this year. We need to capitalize with big recruiting years and take those next steps with OOC wins. Nothing holding us back except ourselves.

Have no fear TT; we've got the Cuban Cannon off the shirt next year. Watch out CUSA.

I do, however, wish we could have landed Kiffin as the USM coach when it was out there for the taking. His ex-brother-in-law played at USM so it might have happened. But, then again he would have been Joey Gulfwater...

I'm not sold on Hopson. He's got a long way to go to prove his worth

I think the AAC is a little better this season. I think UCF and USF are pretty strong this year.
Either way, we can compete. Probably just not as strong on the top. Still a good season.

RE: Congrats to C-USA
Our last Spring game revealed all; swarming defense and mediocre passing game. Ito was going to have to carry us, and he did. Griggs will have to hold off Rodriguez I'm sure. Might have to attend the upcoming one as well.

Hopson is a former DB. He's got 3 big DTs committed. He wants the dominating D and he's not far off. He also played a lot of young OLinemen this year, some out of necessity. Next year the entire offense will seem better because of it, even with losing Ito. Wonder where we're bowling?

Its a little of both. J'Mar doesnt always make the best decisions, but many times his target will drop a pass or not even make a play on the pass like you would see Taylor do.

It's never a bad thing to have 10/14 teams going to bowls. On the surface it looks impressive and I think this is a big step in the right direction for the conference. Hopefully we can continue the basketball improvements so far. We need to get at least 2 bids this year.

I think C-USA is certainly better then last season. 10 bowl eligible teams doesn't happen by accident. I think the reason we don't have multiple teams with double digit win totals is because too many of our programs schedule body bag games, instead of middle of the pack, to lower level, P5 opponents.
