RE: Are we losers?
I see us as a typical mid-major, competing in a non Power 5 league with all the ups and downs that go with it. Stuck between a rock and hard place, i.e. not big enough pedigree to attract major talent, but still needing to attract decent talent in order to compete. There are many other schools in the same boat.

RE: Are we losers?
I wore an ODU jacket to church this morning .... in Williamsburg, a lady greeter said, "almost won yesterday, just a little short" .... my reply, yeah, 'we were just 31 points short', then I realized she was gloating about the BB Game that was pissed away by ODU. Damn, that really hurt, and in church too!! There is always next year, right?

Now we will get to see who the 'stick by your team' fans are and who are the 'fair weather only' supporters. Another egg laying season like this one and the new stadium premium seats will be really easy to get. I need to shut up before I spout some things that I will regret later. GO MONARCHS.

P.S. The season is made in the off season. So I hope that there is some hard work underway as we speak, and the coaches do some serious studying of, shall we say, more successful FBS programs that seem to be passing us by. I place us right with UTEP, Charlotte, and Rice in the cellar of C-USA. 10 bowl eligible teams of 14 and we are at the bottom of the bottom.

Wilder in four full FBS seasons in C-USA:
26-23 overall
17-15 conference
9-8 out of conference (including bowl win)

Let the debate continue about whether that is good enough and whether that (basically .500 win pct.) trend will continue.

While I want us to get better, Wilder has earned some capital last season.

I think we are being more hamstrung by facilities than by coaching in football. We need a new stadium yesterday.

Everyone thinks the 10 win season last year was something special. Well, it wasn’t! If we would have won 10 games, including a win against App State, NC State and/or WKU that would have been better than a 10 win season against Hampton and a bunch of nobodies.

And winning all 13 games would have been better than both? I don't get what's your point here. Should they have turned down the wins the got because they didn't also get all the wins they wanted?

ODU's still a new program. Exactly what were you expecting?

No wonder Bobby and co think they have done an incredible job. Thanks to fans like you. We should extend them for like 20 years and see how many rough days we will have before the program withers and dies. Unbelievable 01-wingedeagle

Fan discontent, if ignored, can become apathy. Apathy ends programs.

I’ve been a fan of ODU since 1984. I’m not real happy right now.

RE: Are we losers?
All of us as ODU fans, in my case for decades, have to ask the big question. And that is directed at Wood Selig. Is ODU football and basketball on the trajectory that athletic director Wood Selig wants? If the answer is yes we need a new AD. If the answer is no then he needs to get off his ass and show some leadership and do something about it.

Woods been here since what 2010? We were an fcs powerhouse, current cusa bottom dweller. We were an NCAA basketball tourney team. No NCAA appearances since, current mediocre team in cusa, a terrible conference. Women's basketball is just a horrible joke.

RE: Are we losers?
The football team is suffering the same ebbs and flows of most transition teams. WKU lost, I think, 26 straight during their transition. Charlotte hasn't even sniffed a bowl game. UTSA hasnt won more than 6 games since 2013. UMass was a perennial playoff team, they're now consistently in the bottom 10. Georgia Southern was one of the top 5 FCS programs. They are now suffering their second losing season in a row, currently sitting at 2-9.

It's just not an easy thing to win consistently at this level from the jump. That doesn't mean changes shouldn't be made. I feel like the Scott and Nagy era have run their course. But a departure from the hyperbole is needed as well.

As for hoops, everyone on here believed we needed to win the conference tourney to make the NCAAT, so what did Saturday's loss really change? We still have an entire season to improve and prep to win it all in Dallas.

I'll be at tonights game watching to see how these guys react to that heartbreaker. Hope to see more Hueitt and Godwin. As I remain concerned that they won't play enough to justify not using the redshirt.

So because we have to win our crappy tournament to get in we should be OK with being owned by Wm. It matters. For the perception of our basketball program it matters. A lot more than some of yall think.

If we are using the cusa tourney " only way to NCAA " argument to justify not caring about losing to trash opponents during the regular season then we have certainly reached a new low.

The argument is because of our poor OOC scheduling we can't lose to the W&M's, FecesU, UMES, Richmond, part of our schedule. The Temple loss is not bad. W&M is a horrible loss and severely cripple any at large hopes we had. So...our season essentially boils down to the CUSA tournament. That doesn't mean we still should win as many games as possible.

That is not what the post above mine says. It says the loss to Wm changes nothing because we all believed we had to win the cusat to make it regardless. if we have reached the point that losing to Wm changes nothing about our season then I am out of words

RE: Are we losers?
I don't imagine anyone isn't upset by the W&M loss. It's a terrible blow. But some chose to step back and move on and look at it for what it was. Others view it as a sign that the program is still headed in the wrong direction and that we need coaching changes.

This forum really is a great microcosm of society as a whole with different personalities and world views. A true example of fanatical.
