Writing was on the wall with that one. Frost would be crazy to go there. He has better opportunity's in Florida.

I think you all are safe with Charlie Strong...... although reading the bullspen, there is a strong contingent of fans hoping someone takes him off your hands.

Houston fans— please explain to me the stages I am about to go through. I’d like to be as least surprised as possible

We have Danny White as the AD, that should soften the blow..... but he is not going to Nebraska.

Frost will be gone. We do have $2 million + to pay the next coach. Essentially any assistant in the country can be picked off by UCF. There are coaches like Les Miles, Lane Kiffin of FIU, or we can take whatever offensive coach we want.

Make a hire like Memphis did and you wont have to worry about it. Fail to do that, and its to the pit of misery for you. dilly dilly

Yeah, it seems like coaches leave just when you feel like you're about to get over the hump, and Strong hasn't really gotten a chance to get our hopes up enough yet. Seriously, with the combination of the talent and the schedule, I think I could have coached this team to a 9-2 record, so I don't think Strong has done anything that's going to attract attention other than a team that is desperate because they missed out on their top choices and feels like they need to sell a move to their fans (like, say, and Ole Miss). I can't see Tennessee, for example, trying to sell Strong to their fans after they've all convinced themselves they're getting Gruden. So for better or worse, I think we'll get another year of Strong. And from a talent standpoint, we lose so much that 9 wins next year will truly require a good coaching job.

It helps that Memphis has a good QB. A good college QB can make a coach look good. Memphis is going to get rich with the coaching buyouts at this rate.

Frost is definitely gonna have a decision to make. If the rumors about Florida are true, I can see him going there. I just don't see him leaving UCF for Nebraska. He literally will be giving up a chance to coach in a NY6 bowl (as well as the next few years) and most likely will never get that chance again in his career at Nebraska. Yes, the avenue is there in the BIG10...... but I don't see Nebraska, poor recruiting location and all, being able to get to a NY6 playing against Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State, and Michigan.

Maybe, but if you're looking for head coaches, it's probably a C-USA coach or a retread. I would prefer a C-USA coach; with Les Miles on your list, you would probably disagree.
I'd rate him just under the two FU coaches on coaching prowess, but without the baggage (that we know of).

It's funny how much fans "know" so much about who the great hires are going to be and who the bad ones are. You guys hired Scott Frost (who, in my opinion, has been your best coach - way better than O'Leary) based on his 3 years as OC/QB coach at Oregon, where he coached Marcus Mariota (a guy he didn't recruit) and then oversaw their drop from "elite" in 2015 under Vernon Adams. USF's two most successful coaches were a guy who was a co-DC for Kansas State and a guy who'd returned Western Kentucky to respectability. Meanwhile, our first "home run" hire was Skip Holtz, who was a disaster that we fired a few years later.

I'm not saying the N. Texas coach is good, but I definitely don't think either of us is qualified to make the call of whether you "...can do much better than him."

I twitter-searched Frost's name last night, and saw word for word the same lines from UCF fan as I did from UH fan before Herman left.

"He'd be crazy to go to Nebraska. UCF is a better job right now. His wife loves it in Orlando."
