I did make the most of the fanbase apathy and upgraded our 6 football tickets to plaza, and we had a great time giving the kids an experience, including high-fiving the players coming off the court.

I love my son's perspective. When we were down big in the first half, he said "This is so awesome, I'm having a great time. I know the game isn't going how we want but it's just great to be here and watch" Preach it kid! That helped me out right then.

I think we all want to see guys settle in together, get their timing right, move more on offense, don't be tentative about getting the ball inside, rebound with 2 hands, and not throw the ball away after we get a turnover from the other team.

I did see in-game improvement on several of those today - hope that part carries over and improves by next game. I think this team can surprise people if they can get on the same page and get their heads right consistently about valuing the ball, being aggressive on offense and intense on d.

Exactly how I feel whenever we play in any sport. Tonight was a GREAT win for us.

Stam, I called this lineup didn't I, well 4 out of 5 at least. Tigers' future is bright. Just be patient and enjoy the ride.

Go Tigers

That lineup is fine if you play teams like NKU whose three tallest players are 6'5, 6'6, and 6'7.

Drew McDonald is listed at 6'8. They have a 7'0 player who didn't play.

But I understand your point. In fact, the majority of the non-conference opponents scheduled have issues with size.

I only think LSU and Louisville have major contributors above 6'9, which probably means we can play Rivers and Davenport together and not get crushed inside against the mid-majors.

Rivers can't play the three. He needs to come off the bench or get paired with Thornton or Nickelberry.

ESPN and KenPom list him at 6'7. Plus he plays WELL below the rim.

In any event, some early takeaways on the lineup seem to be that Parks is what most people with sense thought he would be--a role player at best. Anyone that big that can only go for 9 and 4 in JUCO--well.

Bigger point is that Parks apparently is heads and shoulders better than Azab.

That then means if Parks can't be relied upon (and by extension Azab) Rivers will again become our defacto center. If anyone has watched Enoh, he is big, but that is about his main skill right now. Even last game vs. an undersized NKU, Enoh only managed 1 point and 3 rebounds in 15 minutes.

Shocked that you actually watched the game since Tigers were going to lose it anyway. Dylon stopped watching after the Tigers made the comeback or maybe he broke his TV.

Go ahead and twist the info if you can. Who said that Parks is so much better than Azab???? Also, Enoh had a monster block that seems to be lost in your evaluation of his game, maybe just to prove your point?????? This team is getting better game after game. If you wish the players to transfer and the team suck so you can come back here to say that you were right, you are one depressed dude.

I was at the game, along with about 3,000 other people. And more importantly, I didn't think they would or should lose. Nor should they lose to UAB, Mercer, Albany, etc...

As for Parks v. Azab--pretty much EVERYONE knows Azab is not going to cut it. The staff had all last year to watch Azab and all summer to compare Azab and Parks and there was really never any doubt that Parks would start over Azab.

That is the simple point. So, if people are down on Parks, it is highly unlikely Azab will supplant him in the rotation.

Which was the overarching point about Rivers. Someone else noted Rivers is not in the best place at the 3, but he is still one of the three guys Tubby trusts tom play 30+ minutes a game. So Rivers will likely be at the 5 like last year--especially in the OOC schedule where the bobo teams are pretty undersized.

Rivers looks like a different player this year. I think it's because he's not playing out of position. I hope you're wrong but I fear you may be right. Enoh is a nice player for rotational minutes, for now. But he's not ready for major minutes yet. He might get there. Parks has mobility issues-is that kind enough? Davenport can play, but he's got a lot of small forward to his game.
As I have said for a long time now, I'll wait and see regarding Azab, but early returns are not promising. He missed 4 weeks with an injury on the bike.
To sum up, I really hope we don't see Rivers at the 5 very often.

Stop lying man. You keep doing this over and over. You even lied about the attendance. Tubby would never say that about his players. He always says to start for his team means nothing. He makes his roster during the game with whoever is hot. Sometimes he forgets to do the substitution but he admits that he was wrong like he did against Alabama.

Link?

Azab has been available to play the last two games and has gotten DNP-coach's decision.

NKU's tallest two guys were 6'6 and 6'7 and Tubs couldn't find a spot to put in the giant 6'10 guy to take advantage of the height differential.

That kinda sums it up. Time will tell.

Gopher.

You will save a lot of energy if you realize that saluki is coming from the perspective that a rebuilding year at Memphis should be a top 35 team.

He's right on the 17-20 win projection this year. For now anyway, he might need to adjust upward if the AAC is as bad as I think it might be. Tulsa, UCF, and UConn are not living up to preseason expectations.

I've missed characterized Saluki as a miserable before. He isn't one. He's one of the better posters here when it comes to logic.

Thanks, (I think) but I don't require a top 35 season. I just want a plan and some hope that things are moving the right way.

I do also see the AAC is looking even worse than expected.

I thought UConn was going to be worse than Memphis, so that's no surprise. Tulsa has not made the improvement I thought they would.

UCF is not the same team without BJ Taylor. WVU absolutely a** r**ed UCF and WVU is a flawed team this year.

ECU and USF are just as putrid as I expected.

We get clowns coming out telling us that we are for real after we beat LO and that the future is bright after one win. I'm thrilled that we won, but the whole thing from top to bottom is a huge mess.

Baby steps.

I did like what I saw in the LO game from Davenport, Johnson, Martin, Nickleberry, and Brewton. Obviously Rivers is playing better than he did last year. But I didn’t view us world beaters. But everyone who posted positive thoughts after the exhibition game isn’t a clown. I mainly like what we can and should be starting next season and the year after, provided everyone stays and Tubby’ recruiting improves.
