**** me!
I'm just barely now recovering from Wednesday night's debacle. I had deposited that W in the Bank of Bravado and was already writing a check against it when I watched in horror as the Shockers completely loaded their pants in the waning seconds of the game. There were only slight brown spots showing when we went cold against the zone and proceeded to bang half a dozen or so 3's off the rim. But in that final in-bounds play it was explosive diarrhea city with nary a clean Shocker bottom in sight.

I don't know why this loss hurts so much, but it was particularly wicked in the way it unfolded. I know we lost to a good team; we may still even be top 10-15 on Monday, but it doesn't matter. It feels like we let the whole world down with that loss - particularly because it was in - the - bank.

I'm reminded of a loss we suffered against Northern Iowa circa 2003-2005ish. There was this peckerhead named Ben Jacobson (not related to the coach) that nailed a last-second 3, and in so doing, erased any hope we had of earning a ticket to the Dance. That night almost killed me. Wednesday night was almost as bad for me. I wanted to simultaneously vomit, **** my pants, and pluck my eyeballs out and stomp on them. I barely slept that night walking around the family thanksgiving reunion the following day like a zombie. I got a little energy back when I bumped into a big ChicKUn fan reminiscing about the Shocker beatdown of 2014.

It shouldn't have affected me this much, but with great power comes great responsibility. The Shockers aren't playing for a ticket to the Dance anymore, our goals are much, much higher. I feel bad for the players, I feel bad for Marshall and Co., I feel bad for the AAC (except the trolls who obviously took delight in our shocking stumble - I don't blame them).

Anybody else have a loss that affected them so bad they were ill for days?

I have little perspective when it comes to important Shocker games, and that final Maui game was important. It would be deadly back when we were in the MVC. Perhaps I have yet to adjust fully to what impact it has in a better league. That loss in the MVC would drop us 4 seeds probably. It may keep us from a 1 or 2 seed this year even if we win out. I don't know... I do know it was a very important OOC statement game. We could/should have won that game by double digits.

As an ECU fan, we may not see eye to eye.

I talked to a 69 year old Shocker fan today that was just as ill as I was. Shocker basketball fans are a different breed. Maybe it's a Kansas thing.

With Tulane, losing games that seem un-loseable — and losing them in a “What? How in the F did that happen?!?!” manner — is such a common, every-day occurrence, that each individual shock quickly blends into a larger, overall cloud of emotional pain.

But there were two particular football games when I was a kid (the pre-Tulane, pre-New Orleans part of my existence) that have stayed with me, though. The Falcons blew a 4th-Q lead at home in a playoff game vs. the Cowboys: January ’81. And Labor Day night in ’85, Georgia gave up a last-second TD at home that sealed it for Alabama, after we had scored to take the lead with just 50 seconds left on the clock. That type of ending wouldn’t be shocking nowadays but back then, Georgia was rightly renowned for its brutal, three-plays-and-out defenses. Even after 32 years, I can still remember things my father and I said during and immediately after that debacle.

Good God... we still have 3 days until our next game. The ONLY thing that will save you from the misery of losing a big game is to play another one as soon as possible. I haven't read or watched anything on the Shockers since Wednesday night. My brain is turned off for safety reasons until the ball is tossed up again.

YES! Unfortunately lots of those games for a UH fan, both football and basketball. I was ill for weeks after the Coogs lost to NC State in '83, and I was only 23 years old. Hell I still can't watch March Madness because they always show a clip of Jimmy V running around the court looking for somebody to hug.

Why did Lewis leave Drexler in with three fouls, and then four fouls?
