I have been avoiding this topic like the plague. After days of soul searching, I can find no logical reason for the Mean Green winning this game.

Don't get me wrong, I do not believe we will get embarrassed like our last meeting. There is evidence that some off the field conditions may have contributed to our lack of performance in that game. But, even removing that factor, North Texas will still field a substandard defense on Saturday. Yes, they played well against Rice and UTEP, but those teams were terrible this season. Army proved our defense is still bad. I see no reason why they would become great or even just competent by Saturday morning. I hope I am completely wrong and have to come back to this thread and eat copious amounts of crow and apologize to the Mean Green defense, but I doubt that will be the case.

Unfortunately, I have to concur. If we win it will be because we win the turnover battle, we control the time of possession, and we score a bunch of points. I think we'll be much more competitive but I think it's a bad match for us.

I’m torn. I like Owls (I am one). But UNT is my ‘hometown’ team since I moved to Denton County.

It is pretty much unanimous.

Everyone in the media and the vast majority of fans on this board have overwhelmingly picked FAU to win. There's no logic to bring one to the conclusion that UNT has a chance in this game.

So given all that, I'll go with:

UNT 45
FAU 38

not to hijack this thread but felt it didn't need a thread of its own.....so with the CUSA CG happening at 11:00 am cst/12:00 pm est the past several years does that mean that if/when UTEP would host that the game would start at 10:00 am mountain time or would there be some shuffling happening to avoid it? Not looking for smart@$$ answers, just an honest question.

Well, with my (minimal) gambling history in Vegas and Lake Charles, usually in the red, I should get a nice bet out there, and place it on FAU to win. History says that I'll lose the bet and UNT will win the CUSA Championship. How's that for sound logic?!!??

I suspect that this was a matter of agreement between both the teams and the conference. ESPN, probably, also played a role in this (ESPN2 is broadcasting the game). I am sure that there is nothing that forces this game to be at that exact time next year.

For What it's worth, I think the 11.5 spread is a bit to high for this game. While the Over/Under of 73 may be too low.

Singletary reeled off a 50-yard run but Driskell one-hopped a pass into the end-zone to a wide-open WR.

UNT is trying to run when they have a good passing attack???

FAU gets the ball back to try and jump on UNT early. So far, so good. Need TDs, though, not FGs.
